Matthew McConaughey Joins Male Stripper Movie

He always has his shirt off anyway, so why not? Matthew McConaughey and White Collar star Matt Bomer have officially signed on to Magic Mike, a Steven Soderbergh movie about male strippers.

I'm guessing McConaughey showed up for auditions wearing nothing but a Speedo and a cowboy hat, and when casting praised him for his costume, he responded, "what costume?"

The movie is inspired by Channing Tatum's real-life days as a male stripper. Yep, Channing Tatum used to windmill for money. Or whatever dance moves male strippers do, I have no idea. In the flick, Tatum will play an exotic dancer named Magic Mike, and McConaughey plays a retired stripper. Bomer and Alex Pettyfer will also play strippers in the movie.

Tatum danced back in 1999 and describes it as "a wild and pivotal time in my life."

Personally, I had no idea that Channing Tatum started off as a stripper. It made me wonder who else in Hollywood has a pole-dancing past. So we've put together a list of seven celebs who stripped before they were stars:

Lady Gaga: Flaunting her body is nothing new for Lady Gaga. The singer says, "I was working in strip clubs when I was 18. Girls from my background weren’t meant to turn into someone like me."

Amber Rose: Yep, Kanye's ex knows her way around the pole. I'm guessing her stripper name was Amber Rose.

Courtney Love: Before she became a badass rock star, Courtney love was stripping in Japan, Taiwan , Alaska and even Hollywood. She used to strip at a place called Jumbo’s Clown Room in East Hollywood. I would like to take this time to formally apologize to Japan, Taiwan, Alaska and Hollywood..

Nadya "Octomom" Suleman: It was just one night, but Suleman admits she delved in the stripper game. Her stage name? Angelina. Girrrrl you wish.

Carmen Electra: Before she was making waves on Baywatch, Carmen Electra was doing the booty clap on stage. And she hasn't forgotten her roots…Electra released her own line of stripper poles a while back.

Eve: The Grammy-award winner/actress used to strip when she was only 17. "I tried it, I did it, it wasn't as bad as I thought. Then we started going to New York. That's when it became heavy." Two months later, Eve met rapper Mase, and her life turned around.

NeNe Leakes: The Real Housewives star used to make it rain before she…did whatever she does on that show. Start catfights? Complain about wine? That's all I know about Real Housewives.
