Matthew McConaughey. biography
Matthew McConaughey was born on November 4, 1969, in Uvalde, Texas and has been known as the charming, ruggedly handsome type since a young age.
After graduating from the University of Texas in 1993, Matthew began landing several commercial gigs and minor film roles before getting his big break in the cult classic Dazed and Confused (1993). Matthew then gained Hollywood's attention with a memorable performance as a trial lawyer alongside Kevin Spacey, Samuel L. Jackson and Sandra Bullock in A Time to Kill (1996).
Before Matthew knew it, he was on the cover of Vanity Fair magazine and seen as a rising star in Hollywood's eyes. From there, he starred alongside Jodie Foster in Contact (1997) and in Stephen Spielberg's Oscar-winning film Amistad (1997) prior to falling back on his comedic roots in EdTV (1999) with Ellen DeGeneres.
Despite having a minor, drug-related run-in with the Austin police around that time, Matthew had little trouble shrugging the incident off with a breakthrough performance in the Oscar-winning thriller U-571 (2000). Soon after, he was crowned the King of romance comedy in part of his well-received performances in The Wedding Planner (2001) opposite Jennifer Lopez and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (2003) alongside Kate Hudson.
Two years later, Matthew ventured back into the action drama genre with starring roles in Sahara (2005) with Penelope Cruz and the thriller Two for the Money (2005) opposite Al Pacino before returning to his comedic kingdom in Failure to Launch (2006) alongside Sarah Jessica Parker and hooking up with Kate Hudson again in Fool's Gold (2008).
The hunk of an actor continued making audiences across the nation burst out in laughter in part of his role as a Ben Stiller's agent in Tropic Thunder (2008) and as a bachelor in Ghosts of Girlfriends Past (2009).
In 2011, Matthew assumed the image of a lazy defense lawyer in the thriller The Lincoln Lawyer prior to making a 360-degree turn and portraying a hit man in the crime thriller Killer Joe. A year later, he made every woman's dream come true when he starred as strip joint owner Dallas in Magic Mike (2012) followed by a critically acclaimed role in the drama Mud (2012).
Matthew's most recent projects include, the TV series True Detective (2013), the drama Dallas Buyers Club (2013) with Jared Leto and Jennifer Garner, the biopic drama The Wolf of Wall Street (2013) alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, Christopher Nolan's sci-fi flick Interstellar (2014) opposite Anne Hathaway, and the war drama Thunder Run (2015).
