You know the Twilight sequel is big when actors like Michael Sheen are on board. He just signed on to play Aro, a role he was aggressively pursued for by director Chris Weitz.
He’s probably best known for his role as Tony Blair in The Queen, a character he’ll be playing again in the upcoming The Special Relationship with Dennis Quaid. But this role in New Moon could be his biggest yet.
If you’re familiar with the books, you know Aro is very important character. He’s the powerful leader of the Italian vampire clan called the Volturi.
Weitz tells The Daily Mail, "Michael’s role is so important because he’s the head of all vampires. Aro is, on the surface, a very gracious and friendly vampire, but beneath that he is a tremendous threat."
Perhaps Sheen was considered because of his past role as a vampire-type in Underworld. But we have a feeling New Moon will crush those box office numbers.
This just proves how big the Twilight franchise is getting. There are already some huge names attached to New Moon, so the sky’s the limit with the next installment!
