The 2011 Academy Award nominations were announced today in Beverly Hills, and one thing that was certain is that The King's Speech reigned this year.
Other notable snubs: Michael Douglas for Wall Street 2; Andrew Garfield for The Social Network; Matt Damon for True Grit; Ryan Gosling for Blue Valentine; Julianne Moore for The Kids Are All Right; Halle Berry for Frankie & Alice; Paul Giamatti for Barney's Version (he won the Golden Globe).
Best Actress nominee Natalie Portman told Hollyscoop earlier this month, "It's a really big honor to have people respond so positively to something we all put so much heart into and so much love into."
Fellow Best Actress nominee Jennifer Lawrence is still in awe of all the praise she's been getting for her role in Winter's Bone. She told Hollyscoop at the Golden Globe awards she's in shock about it and she's "still wrapping [her] head around the Golden Globes [nomination]."
Christopher Nolan was snubbed for the intricately directed Inception, but the movie got 10 nominations total. It's the second time he was snubbed for Best Director--the first being for The Dark Knight.
Probably the biggest surprise of the morning was see Javier Bardem's work in Biutiful nominated for Best Actor.
When asked about a possible nomination at the Palm Springs Film Festival earlier this month Javier told Hollyscoop that his good pal Julia Roberts held a screening for him and is rooting for his nomination. "I think that she is very generous--very generous of what she did, which is throwing a screening for me she is a great actress. I am really deeply grateful to her for what she did."
Who will you be rooting for come February 27th? And who are you upset got left off the list?
