NAME:Mark Sanchez BIRTH DATE:November 11, 1986 (Age: 28) PLACE OF BIRTH:Long Beach, California

Football star Mark Travis John Sanchez was born on November 11, 1986 into an athletically driven surrounding. By the eighth grade, Mark Sanchez was discovering his natural talent on the football field, taking on the daunting leadership role as a quarterback.

Mark's father Nick, who played football in college, taught him the necessary techniques needed to succeed as a quarterback on a daily basis. After leading his high school team to a championship, Mark was seen as a top college football prospect and ultimately received an athletic scholarship to the University of Southern California (USC).

Although Mark entered the USC football program as a back-up quarterback, he was able to prove his tremendous skill and land the starting position as a quarterback in 2008. Mark's popularity immediately flourished around the USC campus when he led his team to a 12-1 record and a Rose Bowl championship over Penn State. His impressive performance in the highly publicized game earned him the 2009 Rose Bowl's Most Valuable Player award.

In January 2009, Mark was publicly criticized for his decision to opt of his last year in college and enter the 2009 NFL draft. Many, including his coach Pete Carroll, warned Mark of the frequently low success-rate quarterbacks have on the professional level when they leave college early. Mark made up his mind and attended the 2009 Scouting Combine where he was ranked one of the top quarterbacks. Many teams were interested, including the Seattle Seahawks, but the New York Jets ultimately selected Mark in the first round. On June 10, 2009, Mark signed a five-year $50 million contract, the largest deal in the Jets' history.

Despite undergoing knee surgery in the start of the 2010 season, Sanchez managed to lead his team to the AFC Championship. After being named team captain in the start of the 2011 season, he signed a 3-year contract extension in March 2012.
