This is terrible news! Law & Order SVU’s
Mariska Hargitay has suffered a collapsed lung.
Access Hollywood was the first to learn the news. Mariska’s rep says she’s been “sidelined with a pneumothorax,” which is a partially collapsed lung.
It’s unknown at this time how she suffered the collapsed lung, but it may have been a result of a buildup of air in the space between the lung and chest wall. It sounds painful to even think about!
But despite her injury, Mariska will reportedly appear in all the remaining episodes of SVU this season. We wonder if the writers will somehow make her injury part of her character’s storyline. That’s some serious dedication to her work as well!
It’s also unknown if Mariska will need to have surgery, or if she’ll just need to undergo oxygen treatments.
We’re sure this is why Mariska was a no-show at last night’s Golden Globes, despite being nominated for best actress in a television series drama.
We wish Mariska a speedy and full recovery because we don't know what we would do with ourselves if she left SVU!
