Marion Cotillard Sparks Controversy

Marion Cotillard

Recent Oscar winner Marion Cotillard has pissed off a lot of people after questioning the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

"I think they lied about a number of things," Cotillard says of the September 11 attacks.

"We see other towers of the same kind being hit by planes, are they burned? There was a tower, I believe it was in Spain, which burned for 24 hours.

"It never collapsed. None of these towers collapsed. And there [New York], in a few minutes, the whole thing collapsed," she said.

What is she trying to say? Is she trying to say that 9/11 was all an illusion or is she trying to say that they were intentionally brought down? Whatever the case is, her comments definitely have a lot of people pissed off.

Why does everyone get all twisty when people say things they don't want to hear? It doesn't even have to be correct, just an opinion, and everyone gets all offended. Truly, we don't really know everything that happened that day, for all we know she's right.

well she could be right but, excuse me, the Oscar was awarded to her for her acting abilities not her personal opinions. Besides if the Oscars is as narrow an award as only going to supporters of the American paridigm what value can it have and who other than patriot Americans would want it anyway?

It's now official the girl has no brain. She is an insult to every rational human being in the world. She will never be taken seriously again. Hey Mavis - how is the weather on your planet? Mat - get a clue and a life. You can start by taking your head out of your a**.

Mat, you're right - she was awarded and Oscar for her acting abilities and not her personal opinions. But she is still entitled to her personal opinions, and now she has an Oscar people are no doubt going to be interested to learn more about what those are. So if she says her opinion, and people are interested enough to give her a platform from which others can hear it, who is to blame? She has a right to voice her opinion, and that's all she was doing. No accusations, no statements of absolute fact. Her opinion, based on related things she has seen. And we cannot argue with what she said because the fact is that no one knows what happened, and no one ever will, and no one could admit that it would have been beyond the power of whoever concerned to alter facts about that day in whatever ways thought necessary. Leave her be. At least she has a brain capable of questioning, which is much more than appears to be the case with many other young 'starlets'. No names mentioned.

She simply pointed out that theoratically the buildings shouldnt have collapsed in the fashion that they did. Obisouly they did, but it's scientifically improbably (if not impossible) that it was solely due to the damage done by the planes.

Actually, the topic has been discussed for years now. It is quite possible, and yes, highly far fetched. There are some interesting government theories, that you could even look up and read about. To "the Dude", no need to flip out at everyone. I am impressed that this actress would make such a bold comment.

This girl is speaking the TRUTH! Everyone is getting pissed off at her because they are all afraid of the truth and are in denial about it. They can't handle the TRUTH! Who can blame them? Deep down they are afraid that their own government may have had something to do with 9/11, and they have not come to terms with it. She at least has the balls to say something about it! More power to her!

There is a reason circumstantial evidence doesn't hold up in court. It doesn't prove its conclusion without a shadow of doubt. Too many other conclusions can be drawn from the same evidence. There are too many questions which have been left unanswered. Whether it is more likely or less likely to have been an inside job still doesn't prove it either way. There is a lot of circumstantial evidence which does tend to lead someone to believe one side over another, but still lacks conclusive proof, even with overwhelming coincidental facts: That intelligence agencies, financiers, terrorists and narco-criminals have a long history together is well established, but the Nugan Hand Bank, BCCI, Banco Ambrosiano, the P2 Lodge, the CIA/Mafia anti-Castro/Kennedy alliance, Iran/Contra and the rest were a long time ago, so there’s no need to rehash all that. That was then and this is now! That George Bush's brother Marvin sat on the board of the Kuwaiti-owned company which provided electronic security to the World Trade Centre, Dulles Airport and United Airlines means nothing more than you must admit those Bush boys have done "alright" for themselves. That Jonathan Bush’s Riggs Bank has been found guilty of laundering terrorist funds and fined a US-record $25 million must embarrass his nephew George, but it's still no justification for leaping to paranoid conclusions. That George Bush found success as a businessman only after the investment of Osama’s brother Salem and reputed al Qaeda financier Khalid bin Mahfouz is just 'one of those things' - one of those crazy things. That Osama bin Laden is known to have been an asset of US foreign policy in no way implies he still is. That al Qaeda was active in the Balkan conflict, fighting on the same side as the US as recently as 1999, while the US protected its cells, is merely one of history's little aberrations. The claims of Michael Springman, State Department veteran of the Jeddah visa bureau, that the CIA ran the office and issued visas to al Qaeda members so they could receive training in the United States, sound like the sour grapes of someone who was fired for making such wild accusations. That one of George Bush's first acts as President, in January 2001, was to end the two-year deployment of attack submarines which were positioned within striking distance of al Qaeda's Afghanistan camps, even as the group's guilt for the Cole bombing was established, proves that a transition from one administration to the next is never an easy task. That so many influential figures in and close to the Bush White House had expressed, just a year before the attacks, the need for a "new Pearl Harbor" before their militarist ambitions could be fulfilled, demonstrates nothing more than the accidental virtue of being in the right place at the right time. That the company PTECH, founded by a Saudi financier placed on America’s Terrorist Watch List in October 2001, had access to the FAA’s entire computer system for two years before the 9/11 attack, means he must not have been such a threat after all. That whistleblower Indira Singh was told to keep her mouth shut and forget what she learned when she took her concerns about PTECH to her employers and federal authorities, suggests she lacked the big picture. And that the Chief Auditor for JP Morgan Chase told Singh repeatedly, as she answered questions about who supplied her with what information, that "that person should be killed," suggests he should take an anger management seminar. That on May 8, 2001, Dick Cheney took upon himself the job of co-ordinating a response to domestic terror attacks even as he was crafting the administration’s energy policy which bore implications for America's military, circumventing the established infrastructure and ignoring the recommendations of the Hart-Rudman report, merely shows the VP to be someone who finds it hard to delegate. That the standing order which covered the shooting down of hijacked aircraft was altered on June 1, 2001, taking discretion away from field commanders and placing it solely in the hands of the Secretary of Defense [Donald Rumsfeld], is simply poor planning and unfortunate timing. Fortunately the error has been corrected, as the order was rescinded shortly after 9/11. That in the weeks before 9/11, FBI agent Colleen Rowley found her investigation of Zacarias Moussaoui so perversely thwarted that her colleagues joked that bin Laden had a mole at the FBI, proves the stress-relieving virtue of humour in the workplace. That Dave Frasca of the FBI’s Radical Fundamentalist Unit received a promotion after quashing multiple, urgent requests for investigations into al Qaeda assets training at flight schools in the summer of 2001 does appear on the surface odd, but undoubtedly there's a good reason for it, quite possibly classified. That FBI informant Randy Glass, working an undercover sting, was told by Pakistani

short msft
Somebody took out 1000 put options on morgan stanley that day (offices in both towers), compared to about 8 on an avg day. Somebody knew the towers were going to be hit. Who bought the put options? We don't know. How did WTC 7 fall at 5:20pm, when it was not hit by a plane, nor was there a lot of structural damage- yet it fell just like the towers, straight down with ZERO resistance. Think for yourself- the pancake theory is stupid because of the simple physics of resistance. If the pancake theory were true, each floor would have hit the next floor, breaking through it, but slowing down on the way- not coming down at free fall speed. Why didn't the the 9/11 commission ask these questions? It was just another bleeping coverup. BushCo not only lied to start a war, they exploited 9/11 to do it. What kind of people would do that? Why did Bush refuse to testify in public re: 9/11. If he were honorable, he'd be proud to answer any and all questions about his actions that day.

Clu Lest
Next thing you know she will say the Holacaust didn't occur because "oh, I have seen some documentaries and they say it didn't happen"... yeah and "kids don't starve in Africa because ummm... yeah... it's all an illusion and it's all a conspiracy". I don't care if she is a good actor or not. It's like people who support actors who break the law and are pro-fur etc.

Goodbye_Marion
All 9-11 conspiracy theorists are mind-numb idiots, spewing destructive and worthless rhetoric just so like-minded idiots may possibly listen to them. 9-11 was perpetrated by a bunch of Muslims trying to kill as many Jewish people as possible. Marion, since you are an expert on fires and building structures, I have a question for you: were those buildings that 'burnt for hours' filled with superheated, boiling jet fuel? I must inform you that concrete and steel can only handle so much heat. The designers of the building have admitted that their design could not stand up to the impact of 747s filled to the max with jet fuel. They were only designed to take a hit from 737s. New buildings, including the new building #7, are constructed with steel encased in concrete… a much stronger and fire resistant design than exposed steel with fire retardant applied to the surface (the same fire retardant that was blown away by the blast of the planes hitting the towers.) Want to know why building 7 collapsed? Have you considered it could have been party from the fire, and partly from the weight of one of the tallest buildings in the world falling on top of it? If you ever watched the History Channel (Seconds from Disaster), you would know that in the past, buildings that have collapsed because someone put an air conditioner on the roof that was too big... building #7 was not designed to handle 100 stories of concrete and steel falling on the roof. 9-11 has cost New York, and America many, many billions of dollars…even trillions if you consider all the ripple effects. I highly doubt the bill from rewiring of the iconic WTC would have come even close to the lost funds from the deplorable destruction of the WTC sight by the cowardly terrorists. The next time you try to make a theory, try watching the Discovery channel first. Since you think you are such an expert, I have got a tip for you... experts deal with facts, not the misguided views of a handful of idiotic conspiracy theorists. We should not give continued media leverage to actresses who have nothing better to do than to use the media to pour salt in 7-year-old wounds of New York and America. I hope to never watch one of your movies again, and I urge all patriotic Americans to avoid all cinemas involving Marion Cotillard.

loo loo
the big point that all of you seem to be missing is this... IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM W/ WHAT SHE'S SAYING, DON'T PAY ATTENTION TO IT. flip the channel, turn the page, FIND SOMETHING ELSE TO READ. she was obviously asked for her opinion - and it's her right to express it. everyone's getting all bent out of shape but it's not like she even said these things while she was on the red carpet... so chill out and find something else to do if this topic upsets you.

Mike
Good-bye Marion you have a lot to learn. The History channel and Discovery are bought and payed for just like Popular Mechanics and Fox so-called news.Building 7 was a fortified bunker for Emergency Management of the city.Just do some research of your own.It is hard to believe indeed but it has been done in the past.Search Gulf of Tonkin or USS Liberty for examples. And after all isn't it our freedoms that is at risk here. She has the right to question in a free society, right? So turn off that boob tube and get involved. They will prevail if we don't.

I'm french and it's a shame to hear that. She's not even american that don't allow her to say this. Furthermore she doesn't have any good sense to say that or maybe she thinks she is that good to reinvent physics principles. I'm ashamed that because of her stupid words, we french are taken as dumb.

Wow!! I'm really surprised that this is an issue! Who is this girl? An actress. She is no better or worse than your average American. My family sits around at Christmas-time giving their opinions on this same issue. I don't hear my next door neighbor say that we "are a shame and shouldn't be able to make opinions on certain subjects." So, someone asked her some questions, and zeroed in on her answer to this question so that she would look like a bad guy. Nobody should be ashamed of her. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, even that guy at the top who is saying rude things about everyone elses' opinions but names himself "the dude." Nuff said.

So she's not entitled to an opinion ? I personnally believe that there's no big governmental conspiracy behind 9/11 but that there is DEFINITELY something fishy about it, and that some information was withheld. Anyway, my point is LEAVE HER BE ! America is supposed to be a democracy right ? Then she should be allowed to voice her opinions, however "intelligent", "dumb", or "twisted" you may think it is. AMERICANS ARE TOO TOUCHY !

She is SO stupid that it's not even funny. She is French is no excuse. Because french people are not that stupid even they are strong-opinioned. She is an actress, sure but is it necessary that actress has to be dumb?

Goodbye_Marion... i pitty you - how's living in your own little world working out for you? Wake up and smell the horse shit that has become earth.

Hmmm
One question: Did any of you conspiracy theorists LOSE a loved one on 9/11? Have any of you lived through that torment/pain? It's downright disturbing what our country is sinking to... quite disturbing...
Posted 9 months ago

foxy
In response to "Hmmm" do YOU realize that it's the FAMILY MEMBERS who have lost someone in the WTC towers that are pushing towards a new investigation? Maybe you need to open your eyes and actually investigate the issue instead of ignoring what all of us are trying to tell everyone. A good place to start would be the documentary "9/11 Press For Truth" which is all about the family members who have lost someone that day who are uncovering all the lies and discrepancies of that day. You can watch it for free on video google. THEY ARE THE ONES WHO ARE CALLING FOR A NEW INVESTIGATION! Would you still call them "conspiracy theorists?"

foxy
Also notice how the media is attacking her because of 1) she is foreign 2) she is a Hollywood actress 3) she is female and gorgeous. They want to stigmatize this so that people will be afraid of being "fired" or "blacklisted" for coming out with the truth on 9/11. Notice how the media didn't attack Willie Nelson for coming out on 9/11, or the president of Italy. But they attacked the Dixie Chicks, they attack this Marion because they are easier targets. WAKE UP PEOPLE!

I agree with her completley! The fricken buildings not only collapsed within minutes of being hit, they collapsed at near free-fall speed. A plane alone hitting them near the top wouldn't cause that to happen. In other words, she's just saying what we're all thinking. And by we, I mean nearly everyone who isn't American.
Posted 9 months ago

why
She's just asked the questions she didn't give the answers, is it not allowed to search for the truth? Good to hear that some of you are doing the same.
