Mariah Explains Her Bizarre Speech

Mariah Carey bizarre buzzed speech at the 21st Annual Palm Springs Film Festival was the talk of the town on Tuesday.

The speech, that started with "Oh my goodness," and ended with her rambling, can be blamed on Precious director Lee Daniels. Or at least that's what Mariah says.

"We'd been sitting there, celebrating this whole time and having little splashes, and I hadn't eaten," she said.

"The thing is, me and Lee hadn't seen each other in a while," she explains. "I love Lee, but he's a bad influence!"

During her speech, Carey told the audience, "Please forgive me because I'm a little bit um, yeah." Clearly she had a little too much bubbly, but it was her night, so why not?

Good news is Mariah is laughing off the entire incident and not letting it get to her. "If people don't understand me and they just think I'm this girl that stands by a microphone and sings "Hero" then they're definitely not gonna get me," she says. "But if people knew me they'd understand and have a sense of humor. And basically that's what gets me through life," she said.
