Mariah Carey is no stranger to a verbose album title. The Emancipation of Mimi, anyone?

The singer announced her 14th album called Me. I Am Mariah…The Elusive Chanteuse, which is a title only someone like Mariah Carey could come up with.

It’s apparently based on the “first and only self-portrait” of herself, which she drew at three-and-a-half years old.

Her video announcement also includes some signature Mariah touches. For instance, are you catching those self-recorded background vocals and chuckling layered behind her narration?

As for her reasoning behind adding “The Elusive Chanteuse” to the mix, it’s supposedly inspired by a nickname that “lately they’ve been calling me.” Who they are is beyond us all because not once have we ever heard anyone refer to her as such. Whatever! She’s Mariah! She can say whatever she wants.
