From Jada Pinkett to Maria Shriver: What Celebs Sacrificed For Love
When you find that special someone, the love you have for them can be so compelling that it makes you want to sacrifice very important things to make that person happy. And no, staying out of strip clubs and holding in your burps and farts doesn’t count.

Celebrities are known for doing whatever it takes for their careers. After all, the entertainment industry is a tough one, and it takes a strong commitment to your dreams in order to make it to the top. So it’s both interesting and very romantic when famous people decide to put their relationships before their careers. Sometimes, though, it’s stupid. Because we all know how many celebrity marriages last.

But either way, in honor of Valentine’s Day, we’ve rounded up a handful of celebs who have sacrificed something for love.

Kellie Pickler: Kellie kicked her kitten to the curb for her husband, Kyle Jacobs. Meouch. "I love Kyle, he's my best friend," she said at an ASPCA event in New York City. "The only complaint that I would have with my husband is that I had to give up my cat."

Pickles apparently had to go because Jacobs was “allergic to everything. He’s like allergic to me hair,” Kelly said. Luckily, she found Pickles a nice home in North Carolina. He still has to live in North Carolina, but whatever.

King Edward VIII: He gave up the throne. Not as cute as a kitten, but still a pretty big deal. Edward VIII was King of the United Kingdom, and then he met American socialite Wallis Simpson. Sound familiar? Yeah, Madonna wrote a movie about it. Wallis had been divorced twice, and in order to marry her, Edward had to give up his royal title, because divorcing was a big no-no. The two married in 1937 and stayed married until Edward’s death in 1972.

Maria Shriver: When Arnold Schwarzenegger decided to get into politics, Maria Shriver was obligated to give up her job with NBC News. "It has become clear to me that as I try to move forward and balance my career as a news journalist with my new role as first lady of California, my journalistic integrity and that of NBC News will be constantly scrutinized,” Shriver said in a statement. Oops.

Jada Pinkett Smith: Jada could’ve been a rock star. Jada Pinkett-Smith says that she gave up a music career to be there for her kids and husband, Will Smith.

"Believe me, I would still be on the road with my band, Wicked Wisdom, and making as many movies as I can a year, and doing all sorts of other things if I didn't have the responsibility of a family,” Jada said. “It was excruciating, completely excruciating.”

Gene Simmons: Gene Simmons made a vow years ago. And that vow was...that he would never make a vow. The rocker said he would never get married but gave up that notion after proposing to and marrying longtime girlfriend Shannon Tweed in 2011. Another thing he gave up? Having sex with other women. Might not seem like a sacrifice, but this dude has banged nearly 5,000 women. So obviously there’s a bit of an issue here.

Orlando Bloom: Orlando Bloom could’ve basked in the fame and fortune of another Pirates of the Caribbean movie, but he gave it up for then-girlfriend and now-wife Miranda Kerr. Can you blame him?
