Mildred Baena has decided to open up. On Tuesday, Mildred talked to Hello! magazine, describing her confession to Maria Shriver.
According to the mag, Baena claimed that upon her admission, Maria Shriver hugged Baena and forgave her, telling her that it wasn’t her fault.
“She was so strong," Baena told the magazine. She [Shriver] cried with me and told me to get off my knees. We held each other and I told her it wasn't Arnie's fault. It takes two," Baena told the magazine.
Really, you’re gonna go ahead and call him Arnie? You might as well say, “I told her it wasn’t shmoopy’s fault.” And I find it hard to believe that, upon meeting her husband’s mistress, Maria Shriver decided to have a hugfest.
Baena said Shriver seemed like she was suspicious for a while.
“She would say things like, ‘I’m here if you need to talk.’” Baena said. I imagine that sentence was followed by the sound of a cocking gun.
“I sensed something was up. I have so much love and respect for Maria,” Baena said.
During this interview, I don’t see how the reporter didn’t just get up and yell, “really?!” If he or she managed to not do that, they deserve a Pulitzer.
Baena also revealed that her son knew about his father’s identity a year ago. So it’s official, everyone knew about this but Maria. When she sat her son down to tell him Arnold Schwarzenegger was his father, Baena said her son exclaimed, “Cool!”
“It was as Joseph grew and I started to see the resemblance that I wondered – but it became more apparent as time went on,” she said. “I knew Arnold was the father, and maybe as Joseph got older and began to look like him, he [Arnold] wondered. But he never said anything to me.”
Baena also says she’s empathetic to what Schwarzenegger’s going through.
“He’s a good man and I know he’s suffering too. He loves Maria. I hope in time they work things out.”
