Maksim Chmerkovskiy suddenly called off their engagement earlier this week, which led many to believe something dramatic happened between the couple.
While they've both confirmed the split, for the most part they aren't airing their dirty laundry. There's no name calling or bashing, but one things clear--Maksim is ready to move on!
"It's life," Chmerkovskiy, 28, tells
Entertainment Tonight. "You do your thing and then you move on."
Maksim is planning on refocusing all this attention on the new season of
Dancing With the Stars so he doesn't have to think about the breakup.
He added, "This is probably the most serious I've ever taken a season [on Dancing with the Stars], in light of everything that's happened," he says. "This is what I want to focus all my attention on."
Only problem is they're going to see each other every week on set during the show. So we're not quite sure how that's going to pan out.
And although they're no longer a couple, the two will reunite on the dance floor when they perform at the 61st Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday, Sept. 20.
