If you, like me, don’t really care about sports then Super Bowl Sunday was just that thing where football is happening, and the commercials are cool and pepsi product placement, and Madonna performs at halftime!
M.I.A is best known for her 2007 hit, “Paper Planes” and is now a featured singer on Madonna’s newest track, “Give Me All Your Luvin.”
So M.I.A has like half a verse to sing on Madonna’s song, but during her performance at the Super Bowl Half-Time show last night she manages to find the time to give the audience the finger.
M.I.A threw up her middle finger and uttered an expletive, and the tape delay didn’t catch it in time, leaving many viewers watching a blurry screen a few seconds after the gesture in a failed attempt to conceal the act.
I mean, Janet Jackson showed her boob, so how was Madonna gonna top it? With M.I.A of course.
Spokesperson for the NFL Brian McCarthy says, “The obscene gesture in the performance was completely inappropriate, very disappointing, and we apologize to our fans.”
Awww too bad, guess who WON’T be singing the national anthem at any sporting event ever? M.I.A.
However, NFL spokesperson said M.I.A did not do anything similar during rehearsals and so everyone was “shocked” when it happens. But are they though? All of M.I.A’s song include gun shots at least a dozen times, per chorus; she performed 9 months pregnant at Coachella one year; and M.I.A probably has never watched the Super Bowl a day in her life.
Bottom line: M.I.A. doesn’t give a f-ck.
