Madonna Shines at Malawi Benefit

Madonna

Talk about an A-list affair! Madonna shined on the black carpet last night when she hosted the Unicef charity event to help Raise Malawi, as well as the important task of launching a new Gucci store location during Fashion Week.

The benefit, which brought in some of Hollywood's biggest names, was to help raise awareness and funds for Africa.

"I've earned a reputation for many things: pushing the envelope, for being a provocateur, for never taking no for an answer. For endlessly reinventing myself, for being a cult member, a kidnapper. For being ambitious, outrageous and irreverent. And for never settling for second best," Madonna told the guests of the Gucci/United Nations event last night.

"But I don't just want you to write me a check. I'm more interested in your heart. I want to take you on that journey with me tonight. I want you to feel as inspired as I do right now".

She added: "Yes, I want to raise Malawi. But if I can do that, if we can do that, then the sky's the limit."

Attendees included Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher, a very pregnant Jennifer Lopez with husband Marc Anthony. Rihanna, Gwyneth Paltrow, Salma Hayek, Drew Barrymore, Ali Larter, and much much more!

The priciest auction item was a $600,000 winning bid to tour with Madonna and take a dance class with her and Gwyneth Paltrow.

This is not about Kabballa or Scientology people, this is about raising awareness and saving childrens lives. Can you imagine over a million orphans that are dying each day. Madonna is trying to save lives and people are to ignorant and uneducated to see the real beauty in what she is doing. Any money or awareness for a problem in desperate need of help should be given mad props. My family is in Africa so I know first hand how much this level of help is appreciated. Its time to educate yourselves. Stop the ignorance!
