Despite adopting a British accent in the latter part of her life, Madonna is worried the British Royal Family hates her guts.
And it's not because of her 2003 album, American Life. Though that probably doesn't help. It's because Madonna decided to direct W.E., a movie about a controversial period in British royal history.
The movie is about King Edward VIII's 1936 decision to abdicate the throne so that he could marry American divorcee Wallis Simpson.
"It was problematic and I started thinking, 'What am I doing, it's about the Royal Family," Madonna said. "And are they going to hate my guts? And am I right to throw myself into this juggernaut?'"
She decided to go through with it anyway.
"I am super proud of it, it's three years of my life," she said. “It was extremely time consuming, a labor of love."
And speaking of controversial love, Madonna says despite her own heartbreak, she still remains a romantic.
"If you are a romantic like me, you want to be swept off your feet by a knight in shining armor. Unfortunately, we are raised on those fairytales, and even if we are sophisticated, educated, intellectually evolved human beings we still, in the back of our mind, think that Mr. Right is going to come along and we are going to live happily ever after."
Madonna has been dating 24 year-old Brahmin Zaiban since late 2010, and when asked about the topic, she reveals she could see herself remarrying.
“I could actually,” she said. “Yes.”
