Madonna made an appearance on Anderson Cooper’s new talk show, which will air on Thursday, and the Queen of Pop revealed that she is “so nervous” to perform at the Super Bowl.
Lady Gaga would never. Just saying.
Anyways, Madonna tells Anderson, “Oh my god, I’m so nervous. You have no idea.”
Then the studio audience burst into applause after she said this, although I have no idea why. “Yeah, anxiety and nerves, I’ll clap to that,” wonders all ladies in the studio audience.
Then Madonna launched into some kind of church metaphor.
“First of all, it’s the Super Bowl. The Super Bowl is kind of like the holiest of holy in America,” says Madonna.
But is it though? I mean, how Holy is a group of dudes staring at a flat screen TV and eating bean dip?
Anyways, Madonna continues talking about how nervous she is to perform at the Super Bowl and says it’s as if she’s giving the greatest sermon in the world.
“I’m going to come in halfway between the church experience and I’m going to have to deliver a sermon that’s going to have to be very impactful,” says Madonna, “I have to put on the greatest show on earth in the middle of the greatest show on earth.”
Leave it to Madonna to air out her grievances while also slyly complimenting her skills as an artist. How great is the show that you will perform, Madonna? “The Greatest Show on Earth,” says Madonna.
She then explains that there is just so much pressure on her.
“I have eight minutes to set it up and seven minutes to take it down. I have 12 minutes to put on the greatest show on earth. Okay, that’s a lot of pressure,” reveals Madonna.
And then the audience burst into applause again!
In the meanwhile, here’s a clip from her doing some Super Bowl press on the Jay Leno show:
