Madonna admitted that although her daughter, Lourdes, was set to appear in her movie, W.E., she cut her from the final edit.
“There was a scene where she played Wally as a young girl.”
Wally refers to Wallis Simpson, a female character in the movie. And also in real life. Wikipedia it. What am I, a history teacher?
“And I just kind of dragged her in at the last minute,” Madonna continued. “It was quite unfair of me to do what I did and what I asked her to do,” Madge said. “But she was really great.”
Unfortunately, despite being “really great,” Lourdes did not get a part in the movie.
“I ended up cutting her out of the film. Ruthless, I know,” Madonna admitted. “I said, ‘Sorry babe, you’re on the cutting room floor.’ She took it like a champ.”
So that’s that. Lourdes’ own mom fired her.
Madonna recently revealed that she wrote the movie out of loneliness.
“When I moved to England after I got married, I really didn’t have any friends. I didn’t know anybody,” she said. “I found myself in a strange world and I decided that I was going to find out about the history and culture. So I started studying English history and reading about the monarchy. When I got to Edward VIII, I was transfixed by the idea that a man would give up such a powerful position for love.”
