Madonna Didn't Reinvent Herself This Time?

August 27, 2007

Everyone is really excited at the fact that Madonna has been in the studio the past several months. That just means that the genius that is Madonna is ready to re-invent herself once again. That is the least we can expect from her right?

Well, on Thursday at the "Pop Rocks" party at Club 13, the deejay announced that he had a new Madonna song which was produced by Pharrell Williams. Naturally the crowd went wild.

"Everyone cheered and was excited, but when it started playing, few were dancing," a source at the party told the NY Post.

"The song sounds almost exactly like Britney's 'Slave to You,' which Pharrell also produced. The response was tepid at best. They need to go back to the drawing board with that one."

Now after reading that didn’t you become extremely sad right? I sure did, but it is only one song from a bunch of possible hits so there will probably be many more songs that we are gonna like...I hope!

Said madonnanation.com, "Madonna is a critically acclaimed musician" She is no such thing. She had some training in dance. She does not have a musical background and has admitted so in interviews. As far as Madonna's "classic songs/albums," all the big hit songs were written by other people, and all she does for albums is latch on to whomever the hot producer of the moment is. Madonna has no talent: she got by on ripping off other people, hiring people with actual talent, and manufacturing controversy.

People hate Madonna because it's fashionable so say something derogatory. She doesn't claim to be the best singer or most talented musician. She makes fun pop music that is as relevant today as 25 years ago. She is obviously very good at something!

I think Madonna should make a classical album as her voice is considered classical since Evita. She is probably the most important musician in the last 10 years.

The song is very good... and madonna is a very talented lady... 25 years of huge success mean that she's got talent.

I'm not saying Madge has no talent, but surely you Madonna fans realize that sometimes - often - a performer has success that's far beyond what her/his talent actually merits. Consider Britney Spears. Now compare Britney to an amazingly talented songwriter/musician like Elvis Costello. Would you really argue that BS's record sales mean she is more talented (as a musician, not a shameless self-promoter) than the great Elvis Costello? Or Ella Fitzgerald or Diana Krall or ... Really, you could just go on and on. Substitute Madge for Britney and the same comparisons can be made. And those of you who are offended at Madge's music being called shallow can't point to much to prove that she isn't a purveyor of shallow piffle, can you?

This song is excellent. I hope that this material will be on the next CD. It could also be a wonderful single.

This song played at the club ("The Beat Goes On") might not even be on the album. It was just an early demo that leaked online last week on Madonna sites. Some fan burned it on CD and asked the DJ there to play it. P.S. Narcisssus you ignorant hater, do your research. Madonna is a critically acclaimed musician with many CLASSIC songs and albums. Her critical accolades for her vast catalog of music and epic tours are encyclopedic and trounce YOUR "shallow piffle" commentary. Sorry, but Madonna is here to stay and not fading away anytime soon.

Ow. Something hit me on the head. Was that talent? No, it was the utter inanity of Austin's remark.

Narcissus you would not know talent if it hit you over the head, no one makes it 25 years just by marketing! I heard the song and just like everyone who I played it to loved it.

Madonna's career is the triumph of marketing over talent. I'll be disappointed if people fall for her shallow piffle again. May she fade away.
