The Live Earth concert extravaganza is underway as it colors seven continents green. The 24 hour global party kicked off in Sydney with a message by organizer Al Gore, "Now is the time to begin to heal the planet."
Indeed the stars were ready to save earth as Rihanna kicked off the concert series in Tokyo and showed the crowd what she was hiding under her umbrella. Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington said in halting Japanese to the roaring crowd that his band had joined the show, "because we can make a difference if we only try."
The concert moved on to London where Madonna flaunted her eco-friendly side as the headliner for an eclectic show at Wembley Stadium. In Hamburg it felt like an earthquake when Colombian beauty Shakira did some hip and belly shaking.
The party doesn’t stop there as it continues on in Washington, Rio de Janeiro, Shanghai, Johannesburg and New York City where Bon Jovi, The Police, Kanye West and Kelly Clarkson are set to perform. The concert series has over 100 acts that will play in a 24 hour marathon set to be viewed by 2 billion people. Gore might have not won the presidency but he’s definitely making a difference in our world.
