Guy Ritchie clearly has no hard feelings towards his ex
Madonna, and in fact, he says he's "saddened" over her failed attempt to adopt 4-year-old Chifundo "Mercy" James.
Madonna was left speechless and shocked when a Malawi judge
turned down the adoption on Friday morning claiming that in order to adopt a child from Malawi, one must reside in the country for 18-24 months.
Jumping to her defense, Guy released the following statement through his rep:
“I fully supported Madonna in her decision to apply for this adoption, and I am saddened that her application has been rejected. She is motivated only by being a caring parent who seeks to share some of the advantages and opportunities that her life has given her.”
Good news is Madonna isn’t taking no for an answer. She’s already filed an appeal to the court. Her lawyer Alan Chinula told Reuters on Friday, "I just filed the notice of appeal this afternoon on instructions from my client.”
Madonna is certainly determined to adopt little Mercy James, so we're not sure how long she'll stay in Malawi. But it's nice to hear Guy offer his support.
