Mad Men

Hollyscoop caught up with Jessica about what we can expect from this new season.
“What happens is so amazing,” Jessica told us. It’s going to be a great season.”
As much as Jessica wanted to dish the details, she kept tight-lipped. We did ask her about what it’s like to work with her co-stars, January Jones and Jon Hamm.

Jon Hamm’s character on Mad Men may be a pretty crappy dad (exhibit A: Gets drunk at kids birthday party, cheats on their mom repeatedly, gives them a dirty Manhattan and calls it juice, probably) but in real life, the dapper Jon Hamm doesn’t think he’s cut out for parenting.

Megan sang a sexy version of “Zoo Be Zoo Be Zoo” (from the Sophia Loren film, “The Millionairess”) and it embarrassed Don but made every other guy at the party swoon. So then Don’s new sexy wife cleans the house in her underwear, angrily, and the two of them make-up by fooling around on the dirty carpet. Ulch.

The hit show is about to return for a fifth season, and Hollyscoop talked to John at the ‘Mad Men’ Season 5 Premiere. He told us what it’s like to work with Jon.
“It’s pretty easy!” John told Hollyscoop. “It was from the beginning, which makes it seem so fun.

Jared Gilmore, who played Don and Betty Draper’s son on "Mad Men", has left the show to work on the ABC show “Once Upon a Time,” and is having no problem speaking out about January Jones’s icy behavior.
When TV guide asked Gilmore to give advice to the actor who is to replace him, he warned, “Be careful around January [Jones]. She’s not as approachable as the others. She’s really serious about what she does. Everyone else is so nice.”

AMC's biggest hit show will return for not just one, but three more seasons after producers sealed a $30 million deal with the show's creator Matthew Weiner.
He said: "I've always felt that seven seasons was the length of the story, but it's great for the fans to now be prepared for it.
"This is the first time I'll get to work on the show knowing that there will be another season and knowing when the end is coming - that's a creative luxury that I feel lucky to have."
Under the terms of the new deal, Matthew will reportedly receive $30 million in compensation for three years (Wow!), making him one of the highest paid writer-producers in cable television.
Earlier this week Christina Hendricks confessed to Hollyscoop she was worried about the future of the show.
“It’s my dream job and I love working there, so I can't wait to go back to work fast and I hope it all just gets settled soon. Because we’re all excited to go back,” Christina told Hollyscoop at the Vivienne Westwood flagship store grand opening in Los Angeles on Wednesday.
Looks like Christina got her wish. Who would resist giving this woman anything she asks for?! Mad Men will return early 2012!

Show creator Matthew Weiner and AMC have been butting heads so the new season of the hit show has been delayed until 2012. And understandably the cast isn’t thrilled about it.
Why Mad Men is in Trouble
“It’s my dream job and I love working there, so I can't wait to go back to work fast and I hope it all just gets settled soon. Because we’re all excited to go back,” Christina told Hollyscoop at the Vivienne Westwood flagship store grand opening in Los Angeles on Wednesday.
Now that Mad Men is on hiatus she has a lot of time to focus on her second passion—fashion. The stunner was joined by her husband Geoffrey Arend as she showed off some pieces of the Palladium Jewelry Collection. With that figure she can sell ice to Eskimos!
“[The jewelry] helps a lot to get into character,” Christina confessed to Hollyscoop. “When we get dressed it helps to express ourselves through our fashion. Especially on Mad Men. Joan is very specific about her [style]. She has signature things like her pin necklace, and if its the holiday she has a turkey broach. They very much define that character.” Earlier this month, Christina was unveiled as the face of Dame Vivienne’s Palladium collection, a line she’s been a fan of for years.
“I have been a fan forever. I love that she's rock and roll. I love that's she couture. I love that she is literally like dress the sex pistols and also has bustles and corsets and things that you would never expect one designer to be able to do all at once,” gushed Christina.
As a fan, waiting for the new season of Mad Men has been torturous. So how has Christina been keeping busy? “Just finished a film but right now at Lincoln center so I've been singing and dancing. I’ve been in NY rehearsing and thanks to my husband for the encouragement. I haven't had this much fun my cheeks are hurting from smiling so much.”
I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the smile is due to insider information about the show coming back sooner rather than later.

An insider says producers are demanding Weiner cut three minutes from the show so they can sell more advertising time. Hello, irony!
“Weiner is being completely screwed by AMC,” a source tells The Daily. “Nobody would have heard of AMC if not for Matt Weiner and ‘Man Men.’ But they will not renew the show unless he accedes to all of their demands.”
Who are they, QVC? They might as well just replace the show with one long infomercial.
AMC is also reportedly asking Weiner to get rid of two characters so they can save money from two actor’s salaries, to “show how profitable they are,” says the source.
“Weiner just may walk away from the show, and the AMC execs are threatening to go ahead with ‘Mad Men’ without Weiner, but that would be like doing ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ without Larry David.”
Which would be prettaaaaay senseless.
But it looks like the show is safe for at least another season. After cancellation rumors surfaced, AMC released a public statement, saying “While we are getting a later start than in years past due to ongoing, key non-cast negotiations, Mad Men will be back for a fifth season in early 2012.”
Hey, at least it’s not in danger of cancellation because Jon Hamm thinks he’s a warlock.

But not on Mad Men! According to a new interview with star January Jones, show creator Matthew Weiner doesn’t want his leading ladies going to the gym—he’s prefer they stay curvier.
Jones tells Tatler magazine, "He would prefer we didn't work out and that we eat really well, so we look like healthy women.”
And that’s coming from the tinest gal in the cast! Christina Hendricks (Joan) and Elizabeth Moss (Peggy) definitely have more curves like the women of that era.
But that doesn’t mean January is off the hook—apparently she was scolded during last season because she’d gotten “too skinny.” But since getting her stern warning, she says she’s happy to oblige by Weiner’s rules.
"It's OK to have curves and be a woman," she says. "I wish more women would realize that's what men like."
Luckily, Jones gets a little extra padding from the girdle she now wears in most scenes. "It gives you such a nice shape,” she says.
As for Hendricks, she was named the hottest woman in America this year by Esquire magazine, but still got negative feedback after she walked the red carpet at the Golden Globes.
She said recently, "I still remember all those negative comments, despite all the wonderful positivity. That's why we're all in therapy! [We remember] the ten bad things that happen to us instead of the 100 nice ones.”
What a great incentive Weiner is providing for the women in his cast! Yet another reason why we love Mad Men!

Exec producer Matthew Weiner recently told Entertainment Weekly, the new season will find Don & Co. contemplating, “Who am I?”
Season three wrapped up with Don leaving Sterling Cooper to form his own company and he agreed to give Betty a divorce. She leaves for Reno at the end of season 3 with plans to marry Henry Francis.
“It’s about stripping away the things these people think define them,” explained Weiner. “Once they’re taken away, they just may have to look at who they really are.”
The fourth season of Mad Men premieres Sunday, July 25 on AMC. Can't wait!
