Bijou Phillips Backs Up Mackenzie Phillips Incest Claims

The fact that incest has been a hot topic this week is pretty disturbing but thanks to Mackenzie Phillips, the subject just won't go away! Mackenzie raised eyebrows when she appeared on Oprah and told the world that she had a 10 year affair with her father, the founder of the 60s band The Mamas and the Papas.

While Mackenzie's stepmother Michelle doubts there's any truth to her claims, her sister Bijou is standing by her and backs the story.

"When I was 13, Mackenzie told me that she had a consensual sexual relationship with our father. This news was confusing and scary, as I lived alone with my father since I was 3," Bijou, 29, says in a statement to Us Weekly.

"I didn't know what to believe, and it didn't help that shortly there after Mackenzie told me it didn't happen. Mackenzie’s history with our father is hers, but also clouded with 30 years of drug abuse.

"I hope she can come to terms with this and find peace," Bijou continues. "The life I had with my father was very different. He was Mr. Mom, encouraging and loving. The man that raised me would never be capable of doing such things, and if he was, it is heartbreaking to me to think that my family would leave me alone with him."

She added, "I understand Mackenzie's need to come clean with a history she feels will help others, but it's devastating to have the world watch as we try and mend broken fences, especially when the man in question isn’t here to defend himself," her statement concludes.

Mackenzie's claims seem a little out there to be fabricated. Who would make something like that up? But than again she has a book to sell. What do you guys think? Do you believe her?

conflicting stories; some say that bijou phillips says she's lying while others says that she believes mackenzie. its all sad and sick. but i also agree with bijou that the man in question here isn't alive to defend himself against these claims, so all we have is what mackenzie says to make a conclusion.

Her older sister told her when she was 13 - what a dysfunctional family this is

Your headline is misleading since it dosen't sound like Bijou is really backing up the claims as you put it. It sounds to me like all of the family aren't sure if her over 30 years of heavy drug use has clouded her memories since no one else seems to have seen this part of the father other then the drug use. Writing a book and going public with it without informing the family your doing so probably wasn't the smartest decision either. It sounds like family therapy would have been best served first.
