Lipstick Jungle

We finally have confirmation on one of the worst kept secrets of the year, Lipstick Jungle has been canceled.

Brooke Shields, who played film executive Wendy Healy on the NBC show, denied rumors of a cancellation for months, insisting the show was just on hold.

But she just confirmed that the show has officially been canceled after just two seasons on the air. She tells E! Online, "It was going to stay and we just were officially told it's finally not coming back.

"It's very sad. I think a lot of people were really sad, but I think we hung on a really long time. It was three great years that we've been working on it."

Were you guy’s big fans of the show? It seemed like the producers tried really hard to recreate the success of Sex and the City, but it just didn't work out for them.

We've been hearing rumors of the cancellation of Lipstick Jungle for months now, but no one, not even the actors, seem to know the fate of the show.

Hollyscoop.com caught up with one of the stars of the show, Robert Buckley when he hosted "Kiss For A Cause" at Armani Exchange in Santa Monica this past weekend to get his thought on the possible cancellation.

"I don’t know for sure," he told Hollyscoop.com. "Everyday I hear new things so I'm just waiting to hear like everyone else."

Speaking of a possible SAG strike, the actor confessed, "There are good argument for both sides, but I'd love to keep my job."

What are your thoughts on the possible cancellation of Lipstick Jungle? Should producers push for one more season?

Either Brooke Shields is in denial, or the Hollywood Reporter was wrong about Lipstick Jungle being canceled. Hollyscoop reported last week that the show had been canned by NBC, but Brooke told reporters at Sunday’s Kidsfest in NYC that she’s still working.

Brooke said, “They thought that because My Own Worst Enemy has been shut down that the same thing had happened to us, and it’s not true. They’re not breaking down the sets. We’re still working. We still have more to do, so it’s erroneously presented that we’ve been canceled, thank God. Our bosses are saying, ‘You’re not canceled, don’t worry. We’re just trying to figure out how to make this make sense.’ It’s been insane. I think that the public outcry has been crazy, and it’s kind of wonderful. I mean, we’re basically No. 1 if you look at DVR. And you look at all that. So the public is watching it.”

We want to hear it from you….are you watching it? Or is Brooke just prolonging the inevitable cancellation?
NBC has decided to cancel Lipstick Jungle. They also decided to pull the plug on My Own Worst Enemy. That show never even got a fair shot!

The network reportedly told producers they wouldn’t be ordering any new episodes, but it’s unclear at this point if the shows will be pulled immediately, or air the episodes they already shot.

Brooke Shields is just going to have to rely on those paychecks from her Volkswagen commercials that are on every other minute.
Knight Rider @ 8pm
Get your motor running for this shiny new show about intrigue involving a high-tech, tricked-out car named KITT (voice of Val Kilmer) and its driver, Mike Tracer (Justin Bruening). A revved-up retread of the 1982-86 TV vehicle of the same name, the series slips into gear tonight with Tracer the racer and KITT delivering a package — but their parcel turns out to be a man with top-secret codes inscribed in his DNA. Tracer's travels turn perilous upon the encroachment of enemies, including an enigmatic lady (Paula Garcés) who has detailed knowledge of a past Tracer can't remember.

Lipstick Jungle @ 10 pm
Tonight's second-season premiere opens with BFFs Wendy, Nico and Victory huddled together and laughing... at a funeral. To find out what's so funny, we have to go back five days. When Charles gives Nico a photo that Kirby took of her, Nico immediately plunges into panic mode and considers telling him about her affair. Wendy is in her own state of panic after she catches her daughter using a fake ID and her mother (Mary Tyler Moore) stops by for a surprise visit. Victory, however, is cool and in control after hiring a publicist (Rosie Perez) to help free her from Joe.

Gary Unmarried @ 8:30pm
Divorce can be a funny thing — or at least it is when it's in Jay Mohr's hands. Playing a painting contractor who has recently parted ways with his spouse, Mohr's Gary Brooks is readjusting to single life. In tonight's series premiere, Gary discovers that simple things like dating have become a bit more challenging, and juggling his ex-wife (Paula Marshall) and kids doesn't help.

David Blaine: Dive of Death @ 9 pm
David Blaine is what Anthony Kiedis of the Red Hot Chili Peppers would call a "rockinfreakapotamus." Simply put, he does things the rest of us would never consider. This time he's attempting to hang upside down on a wire five stories in the air above New York's Wollman Rink, walking the wire using electromagnetic boots, for three days and nights. There's no safety net. And how is he going to get down? Check the title. Can you imagine what this guy pays for insurance?

NBC has just announced their new 2008 - 2009 show lineup. Lipstick Jungle is back for another season (despite rumors of cancelation) and there's going to be a spin off of The Office. Here's the lineup:

Lipstick Jungle @ 10pm
The battle between Wendy and the villainous Janice Lasher (guest star Lorraine Bracco) heats up when the two show up at a "Women in Media" event. But Wendy's problems don't stop there. She is being courted by an aggressive "mom-ager" who wants her young daughter to appear in a racy film (an interesting parallel to Brooke Shields' own early career). Elsewhere, Victory asks Joe to meet her friends, but the elusive millionaire resists; and Nico decides to slow down her affair with Kirby — a task that's easier said than done.

Celebrity Apprentice @ 9pm
Boxer Lennox Lewis once had to muscle and tussle against Mike Tyson in the ring, but that was nothing compared to what the Apprentice contestant endured last week. It was a thrilla in Central Park when his teammates — mean queen Omarosa and Brit reality judge Piers Morgan — fought loud, nasty and dirty (making for great TV in the process). Tonight, the remaining stars dust themselves off to produce a live 10-minute segment on a home-shopping network. Alas, it appears that Piers verbally spars with someone new — Mr. Lewis himself. Piers miraculously outlasted Omarosa's wrath, but can he survive a round with the champ?

American Idol @ 8pm
It's time for the first results show of the seventh season, and the result is "game over" for two guys and two ladies. Fortunately, Simon has such a warm and gentle way of breaking the news — that should really cushion the blow.

Lost @ 9pm
Tonight, we'll learn the identity of the fifth member of the Oceanic 6. We already know that Kate is one of them, but she'll still be on the island when she tangles with both Locke and Sawyer tonight. ("Tangling" has two meanings when it comes to Sawyer.) When she does get back Stateside, let's hope she turns out to be more upstanding than Sayid. Meanwhile, poor Locke can't get any respect from Ben ("You're more lost than ever") even when he's holding the nefarious über-Other captive. And as we saw last week, Ben will be back in action soon enough.

Let’s admit it, ever since “Sex and The City” there haven’t been any new shows that represent the empowerment of women. Good news is for 2008 there are new TV show lineups that feature shows similar to the show that redefined women in the 21st century.

Shows such as “Lipstick Jungle” which will star Brooke Shields which follows three high-powered New Yorkers as they weather the ups and downs of their lives. If this doesn’t appeal to you, there is “Cashmere Mafia” and “The Return of Jezebel James” making its way to your tube.

Not sure if any of these shows will be a big hit, but one thing is for sure it will have a lot of girl power. Hopefully they will entail the same wardrobe provided on "Sex and the City". TV show executives should think about getting Patricia Field on the payroll.
