Lions For Lambs

Tom Cruise is worried that his new film, Lions For Lambs which hit theatres this past weekend is going to be a huge flop. It didn’t even make it in the top three at the box office on its opening weekend.
Tom was hopeful that his film which was directed by Robert Redford would be a huge international hit but it only brought in $6.7 million when it cost $35 million to make.
This film is the first release from Cruise’s United Artists studio, which he set up after he was dropped by Paramount last year.
A source tells MSNBC.com, "Tom wanted to really hit a home run with his first United Artists movie. It was more about how the industry was going to view him than the movie going public that Tom was worried about."
However, a statement from United Artists was released insisting they are happy with the box office numbers: "Given the modest production and marketing budgets we do not need to be a blockbuster hit. Everyone at United Artists are very proud of the film and could not have had a more perfect filmmaker to have made our first film."
Tom shouldn’t be too disappointed. The top three movies were pretty big movies. You know you can never win over an animated and a holiday movie. Both ‘Bee Movie’ and ‘Fred Claus’ along with ‘American Gangster’ took the top three spots.

Actor Tom Cruise helped his wifey Katie Holmes, who had completed the NYC marathon earlier that day, as they headed to Tom's 'Lions For Lambs' screening at the MOMA.
Katie has worn frocks right off the runway for every other 'Lions For Lambs' premiere but she opted for casual chic this time--hey the woman ran the marathon that day, can you blame her?

A sparkling Katie Holmes and short-looking Tom Cruise were on the red carpet tonight promoting Tom's new film 'Lions for Lambs' at Cinema International in Berlin, Germany.
Tom's new film, 'Lions for Lambs' begins after two determined students at a West Coast University, Arian (Derek Luke) and Ernest (Michael Pena), follow the inspiration of their idealistic professor, Dr. Malley (Robert Redford), and attempt to do something important with their lives. But when the two make the bold decision to join the battle in Afghanistan, Malley is both moved and distraught. Now, as Arian and Ernest fight for survival in the field, they become the string that binds together two disparate stories on opposite sides of America. In California, an anguished Dr. Malley attempts to reach a privileged but disaffected student (Andrew Garfield) who is the very opposite of Arian and Ernest. Meanwhile, in Washington D.C. the charismatic Presidential hopeful, Senator Jasper Irving (Tom Cruise), is about to give a bombshell story to a probing TV journalist (Meryl Streep) that may affect Arian and Ernest's fates.
