Lindsay Lohan graces the cover of
New York Magazine. For the photo shoot with Ben Stern, they recreated Marilyn Monroe’s photos known as “The Last Sitting.” Lindsay wears a blonde wig in the shots similar to Marilyn Monroe’s hairstyle. She is also topless in all the pics.
In the mag Lohan talks about seeing the Monroe photos (and by extension her own) as a way of regaining power: “Here is a woman who is giving herself to the public. She’s saying, ‘Look, you’ve taken a lot from me, so why don’t I give it to you myself.’ She’s taking control back.”
She also goes on to talk about Monroe’s suicide being “tragic” and says, “You know, it’s also tragic what just recently happened to someone else.” When asked if she’s referring to Heath Ledger she says, “
They are both prime examples of what this industry can do to someone.” She is adamant, however, that she will not meet a similar fate, saying, “…I sure as hell wouldn’t let it happen to me.”
All these celebs are obsessed with Marilyn Monroe but they must understand that there was and will only be one Marilyn Monroe. People need to make an impact of their own, not try to copy others. The good thing about the photoshoot is that Lindsay doesn’t have that silly orange tan of hers.
