Lindsay Lohan defied all odds, somehow completing all of her therapy sessions and community service since her last court hearing, without drunkenly hitting a telephone pole or stealing a necklace in the meantime.
And oh, how her hard work has paid off. Wearing a victorious teal pant suit, Lohan showed up to the Los Angeles County courthouse this morning, where Judge Stephanie Sautner announced:
“I have read and considered the probation report, which was written a week ago. But the community service center has given me proof that she has completed…in any event, she did it. Probation terminates today.”
Lindsay then looked over at her lawyer, Shawn Holley, and smiled. Big. It was like she had just won an Oscar or something. In fact, she even stood up and said, “I’d like to thank my driver, who made all my trips to the morgue possible...”
Okay, that last part didn’t happen. But she was happy.
Judge Sautner added that Lindsay’s time at the morgue was “not light duty community service.”
Lindsay has been on probation since August of 2007, stemming from her Beverly Hills DUI case. It was then extended during her shoplifting case. Either way, her probation was switched from formal to informal, meaning she won’t have to appear back in court or answer to a probation officer.
“I don’t expect to see you again,” the judge told her.
Lindsay told the judge: “I just want to say thank you for being fair, and it’s really opened a lot of doors for me, so I really appreciate it.”
And Judge Sautner had some advice for the actress. Primarily, don’t break the law.
“It’s not that hard,” Judge Sautner said. “I know it’s kind of hard when people are following you all over the place…but that’s the life you chose…Stop the nightclubbing and focus on your work.”
