Several months ago we all heard about Lindsay Lohan’s ill-fated return to cinema in the low-budget film The Canyons.
She tried to run away from the set in the midst of filming, she was difficult, she refused to do nude scenes, she always showed up late, she didn’t get along with her porn star co-star James Deen, the list is endless.
Now, the film’s director Paul Schrader has done ANOTHER interview where he basically throws Lindsay under the bus some more. This time, he basically alleges that she doesn’t know what acting is!
Paul described Lindsay’s on-set behavior as a constant stream of “tardiness, tantrums, absences, neediness and psychodrama.”
“Lindsay feels she must be experiencing an emotion in order to play it. This leads to all sorts of emotional turmoil, not to mention on-set delays and melodrama,” the director tells Film Comment magazine.
So Lindsay is trying to get all Daniel Day-Lewis up in this b*tch, but when has anyone ever blamed DDL for showing up to set late because he was strung out at the Chateau Marmont the night before? Exactly. Lindsay, acting like a wreck isn’t “method acting,” it’s just being a wreck.
“Like Marilyn Monroe, Lindsay’s weakness is her inability to fake it,” says Paul.
“Monroe and Lohan exist in the space between actors and celebrities. People whose professional and personal performances are more or less indistinguishable ... We call them 'troubled,' 'tormented,' 'train wrecks', but we can't turn away. We can't stop watching. They get under our skin in a way that controlled performers can't."
