Liam Neeson doesn’t have to worry about Mel Gibson knocking down his door in the middle of the night in a fit of rage over taking his part in the Hangover 2.

Neeson spoke with Access Hollywood about it, saying that he and Mad Mel are “cool.”

Liam Neeson Replaces Mel Gibson in the Hangover Sequel

“I spoke to Mel. Mel’s cool about it. We’re all cool,” said Liam.

Ok, buddy—whatever helps you sleep at night!

Hangover Cast and Crew Said No to Mel Gibson

Neeson went on to say that he did in fact realize he wasn’t the first choice for the role. “Apparently, yes [the part was Mel’s] — I didn’t realize it at the time,” he said.

But he said there’s no bad blood between himself and Gibson, and their conversation about him taking over the role was “pleasant.”

Maybe Liam was spared from the wrath of Mel because they worked together in the past. “Mel and I did a movie together about 20 or 25 years ago,” Liam said. “It was a long time ago. So, we know each other.”

Well, Mel has a lot on his plate now with the whole custody battle thing, so it’s probably better he didn’t start another fight in Hollywood. I wasn’t quite ready for his comeback anyways….maybe a few years down the line people will start to forget what a maniac he is.
So much for Mel Gibson getting his comeback.

Earlier today it was announced that Mel had been dropped from the Hangover sequel and they have already found his replacement.

Hangover Cast Said NO to Mel Gibson

According to Variety and THR, Liam Neeson has replaced Mel.

The reason they didn't want Gibson was because "they don't want him to be in the movie and serve as a platform for some creepy comeback," an insider said.

"They didn't want that energy or to shoulder what would come with having him apart of the film."

Mel was originally cast as a tattoo artist, but we're not sure if Liam will play the same role or if that was specific to Mel.

Liam Neeson has been through a lot in his personal life lately with the passing of his wife Natasha Richardson. But Hollyscoop was happy to see his genuine enthusiasm about his latest film, The A-Team.

We spoke with Neeson EXCLUSIVELY on the red carpet for the film’s Hollywood premiere on Thursday, and he called getting back to work “very exciting.”

Liam said, “It’s a big studio movie, big franchise film. I thought it was a terrific script, wonderful cast where no egos were jostling for positions. It was just the best we can do in each scene.”

Hollyscoop asked Neeson why he wanted to play the role of John “Hannibal” Smith, and he replied, “I never really stopped. It’s nice to be a leader, I’m not leader in real life but it’s nice to play one. I was a little bit nervous but at the end of the day it’s a role. Ridley Scott’s company thought I was capable of doing this so I trusted them.”

It’s only been a little over a year since his wife Natasha Richardson’s sudden death. But Liam has learned to focus on family and work since the tragedy. “It was very exciting,” he explained of landing the role.

Liam's co-star Omari Hardwick admits that producers had to change a scene in the movie because it was too much for Liam to handle. "As you know and the world probably knows this was done right after his wife passed," Hardwick told Hollyscoop. "There was a scene that reminded him too much of that so we had to change the location." Bradley added that "he was incredible, he was fantastic," in the movie.

Being such an iconic actor, one would think Liam’s children would be on track to follow in their father’s footsteps. But, Liam told us, while they “inspire” him, he doesn’t want them to become actors. “I don’t want them to be,” he explained. “Being an actor is all about rejection.”

They may not become actors themselves, but his two boys Michael and Daniel were “very excited” to see this film! Neeson arrived to the huge event in the signature classic black van from the movie, while co-stars Bradley Cooper and Sharlto Copley chose a tanker as their transportation.

We’re glad to see Liam back to work and happy. He’s a terrific actor! Check out our exclusive interview with Liam below!

A-Team is one of those classics that we are really excited to see come back on the big screen.

The new trailer for the movie starring, Bradley Cooper, Quinton Jackson, Liam Neeson, and Sharlto Copley was released and it looks hot!

Any movie starring Bradley Cooper will be considered hot because he is extremely sexy!

The modern day A-team is centered around a group of Iraq vets that wanna clear their names after being accused of something they didn't do.

The movie will be in theatres this coming summer.

Yes, A-Team is being turned into a movie. But before you get too upset, you may be pleasantly surprised to hear that a couple big name actors are in talks to join the cast.

Variety reports that Bradley Cooper may star as Lt. Templeton “Faceman” Peck, and that Liam Neeson is in talks to take on the role of Col. John “Hannibal” Smith.

The long awaited adaptation of the 80s action series has been in the works for some time now, and with these two on board, we could feel confident in it becoming a blockbuster.

Faceman is the role originally played by Dirk Benedict, while Hannibal was played by George Peppard. The script will stay true to its original—about a fictional group of ex-U.S. Army Special Forces soldiers who are on the run from the military for a crime they allegedly never committed. The roles of "Howling Mad" Murdock and "B.A." Baracus are yet to be cast. Original writer Stephen Cannell is on board for the script, with Ridley Scott producing.

We’re kind of excited about this particular remake! How bout you?
It’s only been a month since the passing of the beloved Natasha Richardson, but her widowed husband Liam Neeson is doing everything he can to pick up the pieces.

A couple of weeks ago Liam decided to take on a movie role in Clash of the Titans, hoping that working with his good friend Ralph Fiennes would ease the pain.

And now Liam has made his first public speaking appearance since his wife’s untimely passing. He revisited his alma mater, Queens University Belfast, to receive an honorary doctorate.

According to Irish Central, Liam spoke from his recent experiences, saying “art builds from pain, from misery, from a deep-seated hurt, a monument to the human heart that shines like a golden dome among roofs rain-glazed and leaden."

He also wasn’t afraid to show his vulnerability. Liam, whose two sons sat in the front row, told the audience, "Everybody assumes that actors are great public speakers. It’s terrifying. Forgive me for reading it."

He concluded with: "I think it is a message that a university always gives its students in the end: It’s time to move on, get on with your life. I got on with mine, and I'm still getting on."

This must be the hardest thing Liam has ever gone through, but it appears he’s taking the right steps to move forward.

Liam Neeson has decided to get back to work just a couple of weeks after his wife Natasha Richardson tragically died in a skiing accident.

He’s teaming up with his old friend Ralph Fiennes for the Warner Brothers remake of Clash Of The Titans.

Neeson has been cast as Zeus, the most powerful of Greek gods and the father of heroic Perseus, and Fiennes will play Hades, troublesome ruler of the underworld.

Neeson and Fiennes first co-starred together back in 1993 in Schindler’s List. Also in the Titans cast are Bond girl Gemma Arterton, Mads Mikkelsen, and Alexa Davalos. Production is scheduled to begin in the U.K. later this month.

Neeson actually signed on to this movie prior to the death of his wife. It was unsure whether or not he would still stay attached. He’s probably just trying to keep his mind off of the tragedy as best he can. Sometime diving back into work is the best thing. It reminds us of the recent path Jennifer Hudson has taken.

Production on the film is scheduled to begin in the U.K. later this month.
