Leonardo DiCaprio: Loneliness is My Personal Demon

February 19, 2010
by:

While filming his latest flick Shutter Island, Leonardo DiCaprio was forced to address his own personal demons.

Leo admits that he struggles to cope when he's not surrounding by friends or family members and that he begins to suffer from depression, just like his character in the movie.

He said: "The loneliness is my personal demon. During the shooting of the movie it was like I fell into a black hole and was totally depressed. "You're cut off from friends, family - and your girlfriend. That's brutal. The world kept turning while I was stuck on the set. It's like a strange form of everyday amnesia."

This is Leo's fourth movie with Oscar winning director Martin Scorsese and Leo admits he has became like a father to him after working together for so long.

He told TV movie magazine: "We share a special relationship. Martin trusts my instincts. He is also Italian, from the same neighborhood and at the same age as my father. He gives me as an actor always the feeling of security."

Make sure to check out Leo in Shutter Island out in theaters on February 19th. What's your personal demon?

all great actors are terribly over dramatic. hence...lol. its actually sad how they are when they think about it, and you don't have to think too hard. there's a lot of ego there obviously, but it consumes them to a point where it's weird.

Leaonardo is a great actor. His performance in Titanic lead him to the top level for acting in Hollywood. He took drama lessons with one of his best friends Jesse Morzini who could one day meet him a a great Hollywood production

Loneliness is a demon everyone carries with them. You can be in a room full of people who all think they are your friend and still be lonely. Learn to be your own best friend and find comfort in the little things.
