Lena Dunham revealed in the most recent issue of Glamour that she’s considering quitting acting after “Girls” ends its run.
“I don’t know if I’m going to want to act anymore,” Lena told the mag.
UHHH, WHAT?! We read that and were like:
Can you really RETIRE at age 27?!
Mostly, we just feel jostled by the idea of SHE-WARRIOR and goddess of the twenty-something-struggle NOT having a place in televison.
Woozy. Dizzy. Equilibrium ruined.
But then Lena told the magazine, “I’m always relieved on the days I don’t have to [act]," and we were like:
She doesn’t LIKE it?
We can’t imagine a post "Girls" landscape that doesn’t have Lena in it.
But then she added, “I’d rather give parts to other women than be the woman having the parts,” and we were like:
More parts for Kate McKinnon!
More parts for Claire Danes!
“MORE PARTS FOR EVERYONE!” - Oprah
And that’s how we feel about Lena Dunham’s maybe-departure from acting to write more roles for women.
