Lauren Graham

Actress Lauren Graham is joining the cast of the upcoming NBC series Parenthood. There had been talk of Graham coming on board because of Maura Tierney being sick, but it hasn’t been confirmed until now.

Maura has been forced to drop out of the cast because she is undergoing treatment for breast cancer. In July, the former ER star revealed that she found a tumor in her breast that required surgery. At the time, she was not certain of her exact diagnosis or course of treatment, but in September, her spokesperson said in a statement that it conflicted with the series' filming schedule.

The network confirms that production on the new series will begin in November. On one hand we’re happy Lauren has gotten work again. We’ve missed her since Gilmore Girl ended in 2007! But what a horrible way to lose out on a job for Maura! We wish her the best of luck on her road to recovery.

Another ex-TV star is headed to Broadway. Lauren Graham from Gilmore Girls has landed the lead role of Miss Adelaide in the production.

She joins Oliver Platt, who has just been cast as male lead Nathan Detriot. The show is set to begin March 1st at the Nederlander Theater in New York.

We weren’t sure if Lauren had the singing chops needed for Broadway, so we did a little searching and found this video of her appearance. We love Lauren and all, but she may want to get a head start on those voice lessons pretty soon!
