Lauren Conrad. biography
Born on February 1, 1986, in Laguna Beach, Lauren Katherine Conrad is best known as a television personality and fashion designer. She first became a celebrity when she appeared in the MTV reality series Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County (2004) throughout her senior year in high school.
After graduating, Conrad enrolled in San Francisco's Academy of Art University along with Heidi Montag, but returned home during the show's second season to attend the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising.
Due to the show's tremendous success, MTV created the spin-off series The Hills with Conrad as the center point and her friends Heidi Montag, Whitney Port and Audrina Patridge as the supporting story lines. After the show premiered on May 31, 2006, Conrad was offered an internship at Teen Vogue and began building her future career in fashion with the help of Vogue's West Coast editor Lisa Love who first took a chance on the newbie.
The second season premiered on January 15, 2007, and focused around Conrad and her roommate Montag's deteriorating relationships, due to Montag's obnoxious boyfriend Spencer Pratt. By the end of the season, Montag moved out and was replaced by Patridge.
On August 13, 2007, the third season opened with speculations surrounding Conrad's alleged sex tape with her ex Jason Wahler and her suspicion that Pratt was responsible for the rumor. Midway through the season, Conrad and cast mate Whitney Port were approached by Kelly Cutrone and offered positions at her PR firm People's Revolution, which they accepted. When the season ended, Conrad was thinking of leaving the show all together, but producers convinced her to film 10 episodes so she could resolve some of the drama before leaving. She made her concluding appearance at Montag and Pratt's wedding on May 31, 2009.
Aside from her reality TV career, Conrad has a growing fashion resume in part of her first fashion line, called The Lauren Conrad Collection. The line debuted in March 2008, at the Mercedes-Benz LA Fashion Week and provided Conrad with a nice chunk of chain, bringing her estimated earnings for that year to over $1.5 million. A year later, she launched her second line LC Lauren Conrad through Kohl's and went on to launch her second line Paper Crown in 2011. She has also released a string of novels, including The New York Times bestseller L.A. Candy (2009) and its spinoff trilogy The Fame Game (2012), Starstruck (2012) and Lauren Conrad Beauty (2012), as well as Sweet Little Lies (2010) and Sugar and Spice (2010).
Conrad has also made various film appearances throughout her career, including the spoof flick Epic Movie (2007), a voice role in the animated series Family Guy (2006 - 2009), the comedy Life Happens (2011) with Kate Bosworth and Rachel Bison, followed by the biopic Skum rocks! (2012) alongside Kevin Bacon. She also launched Blue Eyes Productions in 2009, and is working on adapting her novel L.A. Candy into a film.
