No, nope. Lady Gaga compares herself to the late Princess Diana. I call bull sh-t.
Gaga has the fear, that like Princess Diana, who sadly died too soon in a tragic car accident at the age of 36, something like that will also happen to Gaga. Gaga thinks that she will also die as a “martyr for fame” like Princess Diana.
Ugggh, gag me. Is Gaga done talking about being a martyr? Because I kind of want to stop forcing myself to vomit.
A source told The Sun newspaper, “Gaga has always been absolutely fixated on Diana and sees herself as a 21st-century incarnation of her.”
Seriously? Princess Diana married into the Royal Family and did incredible humanitarian work. Lady Gaga just made some charitable wristbands for Japan one-time and wears bizarre outfits and thinks that she and Princess Di have anything in common? Geez, that’s like Kim Kardashian claiming she’s the US incarnation of Kate Middleton, because their names start with “K” and they both had weddings.
Gaga thinks she’s so much like Princess Diana because Diana was also very popular and followed by paparazzi.
“She knows she is almost as recognizable as Diana and is hounded by photographers and fans on the same level,” adds the source.
For many years, Princess Diana’s death was blamed on the paparazzi, that her driver lost control of the vehicle as he was trying to out-wit the paparazzi who was chasing them, thereby causing many to say that it was her fame that killed her.
Gaga thinks this is going to happen to her too.
“Gaga has had dreams about dying the same way as her and has genuine fears that her fame could literally kill her, either in a chase or at the hands of crazies,” says Gaga.
If you want to use the “fame kills” metaphor, then I guess you can say that’s how John Lennon, Martin Luther King, Jr. and JFK died, who were all assassinated by what Lady Gaga might refer to as “crazies.”
Gaga says her song “Paparazzi” was about the photogs in specific, but was about the perils of celebrity and how fame can harm you in general. During Gaga’s 2009 MTV Video Music Awards performance she ended her performance of that song with her fake death, covered in blood and hanging from the ceiling. Drama.
Gaga wrote “Paparazzi” with Diana in mind and said, “Diana was the most iconic martyr of fame. She died because of it.”
Gaga is writing a new song about being famous and how Gaga’s afraid she might die because of it. She played an acoustic piano version of the song to some friends who described it as having “bitter lyrics” but, did add that it had a “trademark catchy chorus.”
