Lady Gaga talked to music journalist Neil Strauss about the apartment she
lived in before she hit it big, and it was no Mulholland Drive Mansion.
"Sometimes it freaks me out-- or I should say it petrifies me-- when I think
about laying in my apartment (in New York) with bedbugs and roaches on the
floor and mirrors with cocaine everywhere…"
So, it was a typical NYC apartment. And I didn't know people actually did
cocaine on mirrors. I thought that was just something they put in movies
that poorly try to recreate the 80s, along with Depeche Mode and a random
chick with crimped hair.
Gaga continued, "I had such obstacles with drugs and rejection and people
not believing in me. It's been a very long and continuous road that I love,
but it's hard to just chalk it up to myself. I have to believe there's
something greater than myself."
Strauss also noted that there were some areas of her past that Lady Gaga
wouldn't open up about. Strauss explained, "She said it was so horrible that
she didn't want it in her younger fans' heads."
I don't know how it could be worse. Unless she had silverfish, too. Those
things are creepy.
