Kristen Stewart to Play Joan Jett in New Biopic

Kristen Stewart is quickly becoming even more of a household name. She’s just been cast as Joan Jett in the new biopic entitled The Runaways about the all girls rock n’ roll band in the 70s. Joan must have liked what she saw in Kristen, since she’s signed on as executive producer of the film.

The story is about The Rnaways, the first successful all-girl rock band who performed in lots of leather and lace. The band only stayed together for four years, but they were very successful. Joan Jett then had a solo career of her own, forming the Blackhearts, and is best known for the song I Love Rock N’ Roll.

The production is eyeing a 2009 start, and will have to work around what Kristen is most famous for: Twilight. The sequel New Moon is scheduled to start shooting in early 2009.
