Kristen and Dakota play two teenagers, modeled after Joan Jett and Cherie Currie, who are part of the all-girl ’70s rock band The Runaways. And Dakota told Hollyscoop that that’s the type of thing that happened often between good friends back then.
"It’s not so scandalous,” Dakota explained. “Its just not a big deal…it’s been kind of blown up a little more. You know what I mean, it’s just a thing that happens among friends. It’s not a big deal."
Well it doesn’t sound like Dakota and Kristen made a love connection, but they have become really close after working on both this movie and New Moon. They’ll also reunite on the next Twilight movie Eclipse.
Speaking about Stewart, Fanning said, “She’s definitely one of my best friends. It’s great to get to do a few films with her and definitely more in the future."
Dakota also says shooting the film was one of her favorites to date.
"It’s an experience in a movie that I hold close to my heart. It means a lot to me and the people involved mean everything to me. I am really excited."
The Runaways is out in theaters March 19th.
