Kristen Anne Bell was born on July 18, 1980, in Detroit, Michigan, and first began acting while attending Shrine Catholic High School where she made her first on-stage appearance as Dorothy Gale in the school's production of The Wizard of Oz.

Kristen further honed her musical acting talent at New York University's prestigious Tisch School of the Arts prior to dropping out a few semesters shy of graduation to make her on-screen debut in the comedy musical Pootie Tang (2001).

Kristen began acquiring many guest spots on popular TV series like The Shield (2003), before landing her big break as a teenage detective in the TV series Veronica Mars (2004 - 2007). Soon after, Kristen's presence in Hollywood continued to grow stronger when she guest starred in the award-winning TV series Heroes (2007 - 2008) and co-starred alongside Jason Segel in the romance comedy Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008). She also received attention for being the voice behind a gossip heir in the hit TV teen drama series Gossip Girl (2007 - 2012).

Over the next couple of years, Kristen started to show she could keep her own alongside some of Hollywood's most humorous actors with well-received comedic performances in the comedies Couples Retreat (2009) with Vince Vaughn, When in Rome (2010) opposite Josh Duhamel and Get Him to the Greek (2010) alongside Jonah Hill and Russell Brand.

That same year, Kristen returned to her musical roots in the drama musical Burlesque alongside Cher and Christina Aguilera. She then explored her horror side in Scream 4 (2011) before reuniting with comedy in Safety Not Guaranteed (2012), Hit and Run (2012) alongside Bradley Cooper and Stuck in Love (2012).

Kristen's most recent projects include, a co-starring role alongside Don Cheadle in the TV comedy series House of Lies (2012 - ), the comedy Movie 43 (2013) with Emma Stone, the 2013 dramedy Some Girl (s) opposite Adam Brody, the family adventure flick Frozen (2013) and the comedy Dance of the Mirlitons (2013).

Kristen and fellow-actor Dax Shepard first began dating in 2007. They went on to get engaged in January 2010, but announced they would not get married until same-sex marriage was legal in the state of California. The two are currently expecting their first child together.
