Kris tells MTV, “I’m looking forward to traveling to Haiti to see the U.N.’s work firsthand. The people of Haiti are rebuilding their country, and the U.N. is there to help them every step of the way. I look forward to sharing the images and stories from my trip with Idol viewers across the country.”
Kris‘ visit is part of the “Idol Gives Back” program. Randy Jackson had suggested this year’s contributions go toward Haiti relief efforts.
Fox told The Associated Press that viewers will be asked to make donations online or by text-messaging during the Idol episode, with the money going to the Idol Gives Back Foundation to help support the U.N. Foundation's work in Haiti.
You can catch the episode and make your own donation on April 21st.

Hollyscoop caught up with A.I. winner Kris Allen at Staples Center where Adam Lambert, Allison Iraheta, Anoop Desai, Danny Gokey, Lil Rounds, Matt Giraud, Megan Joy, Michael Sarver and Scott MacIntyre all made a stop for their Los Angeles show.
Hollyscoop talked with Kris about how his life has changed ever since America voted him the winner. The 24-year-old, who is married to wife Katy O'Connell, has been working around the clock on the Idol tour. Hollyscoop asked Kris how he is juggling his marriage and his new career as a superstar.
Kris told us, “I talk to my wife everyday. She would kill me if I didn’t. I try to keep in touch with my family as much as possible. I was home yesterday so that was kind of nice, I mean obviously it was a little bittersweet (His grandmother passed away last week, but he didn’t talk about it). I was able to see my parents, my brother, and a lot of my other family so it was good.“
In regards to missing his residence of Conway, Arkansas Kris told Hollyscoop, “Yeah, I miss the South. The food in the South is so great…other than the heat. We got off the plane and I was like ‘Oh gosh.’”
Kris revealed that he is currently finishing up his album. In regards to who would be his dream collaboration Kris said, “For me I would love love love, it would never happen, but Paul McCartney would be incredible.”
Finally, we had to know who his big celebrity crushes were, even if he is a married man!
Kris told Hollyscoop, “I think every guy has celebrity crushes. Mine are….Shakira…I’m a Shakira fan. I have a lot sort of….I was actually here for the Lakers game and I saw Magic Johnson. That was pretty awesome.”
Shakira and Magic Johnson! Interesting choices! We’ll be seeing a lot more of Kris Allen in the near future! The Idol tour is in full swing, so click http://www.americanidol.com/news/view/pid/1632 " target="_blank">here for the remaining dates. Kris Allen will be singing the national anthem this Sunday before game 2 of the NBA finals. It’s one of the biggest competitions of the year. And after that season of Idol, Kris is probably relieved that the pressure won’t be on him that night!
Kris is the latest in a long line of Idol champs to sing the national anthem during the NBA finals. Since 2004, the NBA has worked with winners Kelly Clarkson , David Cook, Ruben Studdard, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Hicks, and Jordin Sparks. In fact, everyone has done it since Fantasia!
So even if you're not a Lakers or Magic fan, and just love Kris, tune into ABC at 8pm ET on Sunday June 7th to hear him sing!

It’s sparked outrage among Idol fans, and especially those who were in favor of Adam Lambert winning the competition. But Fox and Idol producers 19 Entertainment and FremantleMedia released a statement Wednesday saying Allen is indeed the winner:
“Fox and the producers of American Idol are absolutely certain that the results of this competition are fair, accurate and verified. Kris Allen is, without a doubt, the American Idol. We have an independent third-party monitoring procedure in place to ensure the integrity of the voting process. In no way did any individuals unfairly influence the outcome of the competition.”
Also, AT&T released this statement:
“Last week, countless parties were held in homes, bars, and other public places across America to watch the American Idol finale. In Arkansas, a few local AT&T employees were invited to attend two local watch parties organized by the community. Caught up in the enthusiasm of rooting for their hometown contestant, they brought a small number of demo phones with them and provided texting tutorials to those who were interested. Going forward, we will make sure our employees understand our sponsorship celebrates the competition, not individual contestants. That said, it’s quite a leap to suggest that a few individuals could have impacted the final results.”
While it is a little disturbing that AT&T allowed their employees to do such a thing, we agree that it most likely didn’t affect the outcome of the finale. Maybe just to be on the safe side, AT&T should write in a clause to ban that type of activity next year!

According to an explosive new article in The New York Times, AT&T, who is one of the biggest corporate sponsors of American Idol, may have heavily influenced the outcome of this year's competition "by providing phones for free text-messaging services and lessons in casting blocks of votes at parties organized by fans of Kris Allen."
AT&T provided the free text-messaging services at two parties in Arkansas after the final performance episode of American Idol last week, according to the company and people at the events.
The Times reports that AT&T reps showed fans how to "power text," which meant to cast 10 votes with the touch of a button, which violates show rules. There were no such parties thrown for Lambert.
In a statement issued Tuesday, a spokesman for AT&T said, “In Arkansas, we were invited to attend the local watch parties organized by the community. A few local employees brought a small number of demo phones with them and provided texting tutorials to those who were interested.”
Needless to say, Lambert fans are furious with AT&T and blame the mobile giant for Lambert's loss last week. During the press conference following the show, a reporter backstage told Allen that the majority of the night’s votes came from Arkansas, and now we know why!
Do you feel cheated? Who did you vote for? We want to hear your thoughts on this possible scandal.

According to a new study conducted by Forbes, Carrie is the top American Idol earner of 2009. She’s earned $14 million in the last year alone!
Since her Idol victory in 2005, Carrie’s played over 300 concerts, released two albums, and sold a total of 9.6 million copies and 10.7 million downloads. And on top of that, she’s won her fair share of awards in the country music genre, including Entertainer of the Year at the ACMs.
Coming in second place is Jennifer Hudson, who has done quite well for herself, without even having won Idol! She banked $5 million in the past year, and is just getting back on her feet with a new album after the untimely death of three of her family members.
Original Idol winner Kelly Clarkson is still bringing in the big bucks. She comes in at number three on the list, having made $4.2 million in the past year. Her latest single “All I Ever Wanted” debuted at No. 1 on Billboard earlier this year.
Wonder if Kris Allen will make the top ten next year! Last year’s winner David Cook sure did! He’s made $2 million since winning season 7.
Here are the Forbes’ top ten Idol winners:
1. Carrie Underwood - $14 million
2. Jennifer Hudson - $5 million
3. Kelly Clarkson – $4.2 million
4. Jordin Sparks - $3.1 million
5. Kellie Pickler - $2.3 million
6. Clay Aiken - $2.2 million
7. Chris Daughtry - $2 million

The quiet 23 year-old from Arkansas shook his head with disbelief as his name was called, because he truly didn't believe he could have won the title.
While Kris scrambles to understand how he was crowned the new Idol, one things for certain: his life will never be the same again after tonight.
Backstage, just moments after he was declared the winner, Hollyscoop caught up with Kris to ask how he feels his personal life will change after tonight.
"I think that hopefully me and my wife will get some more time together, not being in Arkansas as much as I was," he told Hollyscoop.com.
"I'm just happy that I have a music career," said Kris. "Since I was 13 years old, I knew this is what I wanted to do," he added.
When asked if he was ready for stardom, he said, "I feel like I'm ready. American Idol boot camp got me ready," he joked.
The turning point in the competition for Kris was arguably his performance of Kanye West's Heartless. When asked if he got any feedback from Kanye, Kris said, "I haven't heard from him personally, but I hear he really liked it, which is nice."
So what's next for this young Idol? Music, music, and more music. Kris said he can't wait to get in the studio and get to work. We just hope this sweet young man from Arkansas is ready for what's about to come his way.
Were you happy with tonight's results? Who were you voting for? What did you think of Kris and Adam's performances?

Over 100 million votes were received during Tuesday's performance show, which was the most in Idol history!
Hollyscoop caught up with Kris Allen backstage just moments after he was crowned the new American Idol to get his reaction. "I'm shocked," he said.
"I felt shocked every week. And to be the American Idol now, I'm completely shocked," a humbled Kris said.
While Kris may have been crowned the new American Idol, there were no losers tonight. Speaking to Hollyscoop, runner up Adam Lambert said that he had already been offered "a few record deals," so it looks like they're both winners tonight!
"I think Kris won because he's a great artist and I was happy to be runner-up to that," Adam added.
Kris now joins the likes of Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Fantasia, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Hicks, Jordin Sparks, and David Cook.
