Well played, Vanessa. Well played. According to Vanessa Bryant's ex-step-father, Stephen Laine, she waited until she and Kobe Bryant had their ten-year anniversary until she filed for divorce. Why?
"In California ... it's considered a long-term marriage and then she gets paid for life or until she remarries ... just like her mother is doing to me," Laine said.
"I have to pay her mom $1,800 every month and clearly they don’t need it."
Nice. Kind of a long time to put up with Kobe's bullsh-t, but hey, it's paying off now.
Another source says that "Vanessa almost threw in the towel four years ago. Kobe has always had a slew of girlfriends, and the cheating was almost blatant."
Laine continues:"Her mother taught her well to wait for the ten-year mark [before divorcing]."
Damn straight. I don't think it should be considered gold-digging when you have to put up with your husband settling in a sexual assault case. The woman paid her dues.
Meanwhile, another source tells Radaronline that Kobe is trying not to let the divorce drama get to him and is instead focusing on his children.
"Kobe's sole focus right now is the Los Angeles Lakers, and his two daughters. Kobe is excited for the season to finally begin, and he is very excited about the upcoming season," the source said. "Kobe is driven, and committed to his team, and anything that is going on in his personal life won't affect him on the court."
