Kirsten Dunst Talks About Her Struggle With Depression

How do you explain depression to impoverished people in third world countries? You see, some people just have so much time and money, that they get bored. And it makes them sad.

Kirsten Dunst graces the November cover of Flare magazine, wearing a red Giambattista Valli top and skirt.

Dunst stars in Melancholia, a movie about two estranged sisters working on their relationship as a newly discovered planet is plummeting towards Earth. Kiefer Sutherland and Alexander Skarsgard also star in the movie. Melancholia got decent reviews at the New York Film Festival, where one viewer called it “beautifully depressing.”

And speaking of depression, the actress discussed her own issues in her interview with Flare.

“I think that most human beings go through some sort of depression in their life. And if they don’t, I think that’s weird.”

Yeah, except most of us just call it being sad, slash our cheating boyfriends tires, and then get over it.

“People are embarrassed to talk about it - I would never put anyone down that was in that kind of space.”

Dunst’s acting in Melancholia is also critically acclaimed. By herself, mostly.

“I don’t recognize myself in parts of that film. It weirds me out a little bit. Like my voice change, this look in my eye. It scared me a little bit.”

Kirsten’s love life has been going pretty well lately. And she attributes that to not dating an actor.

“I haven’t dated an actor in a very long time. I’ve dated someone for a pretty long time now who’s not an actor [Razorlight singer Johnny Borrell], and it works better.”

Kirsten also says that she’s not one to be obsessed with fashion.

“I’m not someone who’s like, ‘This is my brand’…I’m not obsessed with clothes or into fads. I don’t need the It bags.”

And taking a break from sappy chick dramas, Dunst has been shooting a comedy, Bachelorette. She was spotted shooting scenes for the movie in Brooklyn last week, where she wore a tube dress, sunglasses and mismatched rain boots. This movie’s crazy!

James Marsden and Lizzy Caplan of 127 Hours fame are also in the movie. The story focuses on three best friends who are asked to be bridesmaids at a wedding for a girl they made fun of in high school.
