Kim Kardashian on the Importance of Prenups

To prenup, or not to prenup, that is the question. There's been a lot of buzz surrounding celebrity prenups lately, especially after Khloe Kardashian married Lamar Odom after one month of dating.

It's hard enough maintaining a regular relationship in Hollywood, so we can only imagine how much more difficult it is making a marriage work, especially when you're name is literally your entire empire.

Reality star Kim Kardashian knows first hand what it's like working hard for her money, so why would she want to give half of it away if her relationship didn't work? "I think it's important, especially if you are successful and have your own stuff," Kim told Hollyscoop exclusively at the Rich Soil Clothing Launch Party at Kitson on Wednesday night.

"You just want to you know what’s mine is mine and yours is yours," she added.

There have been too many incidences where a celebrity couple will split up after years and years of marriage and millions will be on the line.

Mel Gibson's $900 million dollar fortune is on the line when he officially divorces his wife of 28 years. So perhaps celebrity prenups should be mandatory in Hollywood. No one wants to give away half their fortune!

In what way exactly did Kim work hard for so much money...has she ever even washed a dish. This girl needs to get a life. If you feel like whats mine is mine and yours is yours then why waste time getting married. That was just a stupid thing to say and thats not the purpose of a prenup. When you get married its to become one..."mine" no longer exists once you have said "I do".

The only way this bitch knows she will EVER get married is if she signs a Prenup! No big surprise here! Guess she will be the next one to marry and breed! Mel Gibson's wife stuck with him through alcoholism, womanizing, the whole works! She was there when he was poor and struggling and stayed with him through a lot of crap. She deserved half of everything. Not the best example of why you need a prenup.

Did I miss something? It is impossible to have a "prenup", as in prenuptial agreement AFTER you are married. Get it? "Pre" - before. "Nuptial" - marriage.

I hope that Mel Gibson's wife takes him for all he is worth. After all she took care of the household for 28 years and had I think 8 children for him. She worked hard and deserves all the money that she earned. Who took care of the kids and the household while he was working on movie sets? At least he will be stuck with a child that the lady will take him for all he is worth again. With all the kids he already have enough, so why has he not gotten fixed? Well, these actors do not think and just like Jude Law he will have to support another kid. GET FIXED GUYS!!!

i agree with LouLew. these people aren't even serious about marriage. anyone that enters into a marriage with this separated attitude is guaranteeing it's failure. a prenup generally says, "this document hereby states that i do not intend to be with you until the end of your days or the end of mine. the end." then again, kim kardashian is the woman that encourages all women to have one night stands so the prenup thing (or anything else she says) isn't a surprise.

"whats mine is mine and yours is yours" is supposed to end after marriage. At least real marriages. Why even get married if you don't know that the one you are marrying is the one you want to spend the rest of your life with? I hope all of these celeb couples are writing their own vows, because traditional ones just do not stand up to their marriages/divorces.
