Kanye West is already in the gift-giving season and hired Andy Warhol’s niece to create a “Warholified” portrait of his fiancée Kim Kardashian.
In Touch has a look at the screen-printed painting by Monica Warhol, niece of the late pop art icon, who feels Andy's "Everyone Will Be Famous For 15 Minutes" prophecy lends itself to Kim and she's not afraid to really lay that point out there. Here’s how she explained how Kim fits into Andy’s factory, if it were to have continued to this day:
“It’s a special gift. I am picking up where Andy left off, and Kim is the perfect addition to the Warhol legacy. There is no way Andy Warhold would not have painted her. Kim is manufactured gorgeous and is beyond fabulous. How could Andy not have been inspired to paint her like he did Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor?”
She added to the New York Post, "She's an icon. She's famous for nothing. Andy would have loved her. Kim is beautiful. She's so manufactured. She looks like a human Barbie."
Kim’s rendering is part of an ongoing series for the artist which she features what she refers to as “contemporary Superstars” all in “the New Warhol format.”
She’s been previously commissioned to complete portraits of Lenny Kravitz, Flo Rida, and Mick Jagger.
