Kid Rock Vetoes Celebrity Political Endorsements

August 26, 2008

Unlike every other celebrity in LA, Kid Rock has nothing to say about either of the presidential candidates. He may have an opinion, but he's keeping mum on the subject altogether.

He tells CMT Insider, "I truly believe that people like myself, who are in a position of entertainers in the limelight, should keep their mouth shut on politics. Because at the end of the day, I'm good at writing songs and singing. What I'm not educated in is the field of political science. And so for me to be sharing my views and influencing people of who I think they should be voting for ... I think would be very irresponsible on my part."

He goes on to say that celebrity endorsements actually hurt politicians as opposed to helping them. He also says in Hollywood it's a case of following the leader. As soon as one person shows support for a politician, everyone jumps on the bandwagon.

Kid is brave to make such a bold statement like that, especially when so many celebrities are doing exactly what he's talking about. But we have to give it to him for speaking his mind. And not for nothing, but it is a little tiring to hear a new celeb every other day endorsing their fave candidate.

C'mon folks. get a grip! Kid Rock vetoes . . . as if celeb opinions mean anything. Somebody please tell Kid Rock that the opinions and endorsements of 'celebs' is sheer entertainment. They have no other value other than to entertain. Do not delude yourself, Kid Rock - your opinion (along with that of other "celebs") carries no weight. It is at best good entertainment. And the rest of you applauding Kid Rock - have some more respect for your own opinions and stop giving such power to "celebs". As if they are better that you.

I so agree. I was watching the VMAs on MTV and it was horrible with all the people telling you to vote for Obama. It is just crazy. I think you should vote for who ever you want as long as you vote so yours will count. and you will have the right to complain if you do not like who wins:)

Wow! I can't believe I actually agree with something Kid Rock said either! He makes so much sense. I'm glad he spoke out on this, because it is SO irritating hearing all these celebrities talk politics.

I can't believe I actually agree with Kid Rock! But he's dead on with that statement. I feel the same way. Everytime Hollywood or rock stars get behind a politician (usually a dem), that person loses the election. It wouldn't hurt to keep your opinion to yourself once and awhile (no matter how much money you have). Let the politician earn their votes. Celebrities need to stop persuading the rest of the country just b/c they're famous. Most of these celebs are as dumb as a box of rocks when they get off stage or off the movie screen.

I LOVE IT!! He can write songs, perform and he's smart! The celebs should jump on this bandwagon and stop being used by Barak.
