In April, after just four months on the Dallas Mavericks, it was announced that Odom and the team reached a mutual decision to retire his Maverick jersey.
He graciously walked off their court stating, "sorry that things didn't work out better for both of us, but I wish the Mavs' organization, my teammates and Dallas fans nothing but continued success in the defense of their championship."
And Khloe tweeted missives about the stint in Dallas, “"Blessed to have had such an amazing experience. Short but very sweet."
More importantly the news messed with their reality show programming. E! claimed they weren’t going to cancel “Khloe and Lamar,” but would be hitting the pause button.
A rep told Hollyscoop the series was “Just on hold now while Khloe and Lamar figure out their schedules, especially with Lamar and NBA, which is a big priority.”
But rest assured sports fans and reality consumers! People magazine released the details on the official announcement Friday, set for release tomorrow, that Odom will not be collecting unemployment, but he’ll be signing on with the Los Angeles Clippers, the team that started his professional career in 1999.
The Dallas stint was a rough one for Odom, who had actually been demoted to the development league team to work on his game. So basically he’d been sent back to school after about 13 years as a pro till he proved he could pass the competency test. Ouch.
Let’s hope that’s all behind the athlete with this new set of teammates. We wish him the best of luck in the coming season…
And let’s hope that with Hollywood as a backdrop, maybe their series will show the super feely couple in locations other than their bedroom?
