Look up in the sky! It's a bird! It's a plane! It's...Kevin Costner?

Director Zack Snyder has confirmed that Kevin Costner has signed up to star in a reboot of the Superman franchise--but luckily it's not for Superman's role.

Kevin is rumored to take on the role of Clark Kent's father opposite Henry Cavill (<--yum!).

He tells Total Film, "Jonathan Kent is the only father figure Clark has ever had, the man who was there to help Clark understand what he was meant to do in the world as Superman.

"Kevin will be able to communicate the quiet strength of this rural American man who raised the greatest superhero of all time."

So who else will be in the sure-to-be box office hit? Diane Lane will play Superman's mother, Martha Kent, who adopts the young hero when he lands on Earth in a rocket.

I don't know about you, but there's no way I'm passing up two hours of Henry Cavill.
Kevin Costner and his wife just had a baby less than a week ago, and he’s already back to work! He visited Washington, D.C. today with one topic on his mind: to offer a "partial solution to the tragedy unfolding in the Gulf."

Unbeknownst to many, Costner’s brother Dan is a scientist, and the two have been developing oil separation machines under their company Ocean Therapy Solutions that are designed to respond to massive oil spills for 15 years.

Costner explained to the House Energy and Environment Subcommittee that the machine which he invested $26 million in, could not alleviate the entire oil spill problem, but said it should be considered for other smaller spills that occur every year and that "there has to be responsible action at this moment."

"What I can provide is a technology that is available immediately, a technology that will allow rigs to resume operation and put people back to work,” he said.

In addition to Costner’s efforts, Director James Cameron, an ocean-technology buff, met with scientists and other experts last week in Washington to come up with possible fixes for the leak.

One of the bottom lines, according to Costner, is "We are all at fault here. It's just too easy to blame BP," the actor said. "What we need to do now is come together."

We’re so impressed! Celebrities are always tied to different issues in Washington these days, but Costner is bringing a solution! Way to go!

I even have to admit that by yourself you don’t feel like that. You start feeling like you are apart of all these people, then you realize that all these people here if they did vote they do make a difference.”

“When you fill apart of a whole you can make a difference, I think the trick is to not feel so isolated.”

Political Analyst Arianna Huffington, who also stars in the film agreed, “Yes absolutely, because you never know which election will be too close to call.”
