It’s officially official…
After guesses and speculation seemed to point out the NFLer as a permanent Regis replacement, Micahel Strahan made his debut on “LIVE! With Kelly.” The news came in the form of a ceremonial announcement.
Kelly Ripa addressed the audience in the post-Labor Day season premiere, thanking everyone for their devotion.
"Before I bring him out, I just want to take a minute, sincerely from the bottom of my heart, to thank all of you," Ripa said. "You stood by us . . You're the best audience. I'm not kidding. I love you guys. I really appreciate all of your input during our co-host search."
The co-host added that the new season of “LIVE!” would prove to be a “new era.”
Strahan entered the stage to a sea of flying confetti and cheers from a supportive studio audience. Kelly greeted her new partner in crime with a hug and a kiss. Both co-hosts beamed friendly smiles.
The football star spoke to the crowd…
"I'm speechless. I am so happy to be here," Strahan said. "You know how they say it's a dream come true? I truly can't say this, because I didn't know I could dream this."
Hollyscoop previously reported that Strahan was pretty much a shoe-in leading up to the premiere on September 4.
Reportedly, inside sources on the show told TMZ that the new co-host was already the final choice earlier this month and his rep was spotted outside the “LIVE!” studio leading up to the announcement “grinning ear to ear.”
Other co-host options were 58 other temporary co-hosts filling post-Regis, including Seth Meyers, Andy Samberg, Anderson Cooper, Derek Hough, Cat Deely, Rob Lowe, Martin Short, Jerry Seinfeld, and Kim Kardashian.
