It’s “Live! With Kelly and Michael Strahan.”
Well, that doesn’t have much of a ring to it… But you better get used to it because it is being reported that the NFLer will become her permanent co-host on the morning syndicated talk show.
The news puts a damper on what was supposed to be a big reveal moment on the new season premiere next month.
TMZ is responsible for letting the cat out of the bag…
According to the source, staffers on the show said that the word around the water cooler is Michael Strahan is to be announced as the permanent slot holder.
TMZ also reports that Michael’s rep was spotted outside of the building where the studio is located “grinning from ear to ear.” So you can go ahead and read into that all you want…
Strahan appeared on the show in June and impressed not only the higher ups but the fans too.
Hollyscoop previously predicted Strahan as one of the finalists for the gig, as – like Seth Meyers – he appeared on more episodes than other temp spot holders.
Meyers previously denied rumors that he was being considered for the final choice, literally telling Florida’s SunSentinel.com “No, no, no, no, no.”
Along with Strahan and Meyers, since Regis Philbin’s departure in November of 2011, impermanent co-hosts have included the likes of Andy Samberg, Anderson Cooper, Derek Hough, Cat Deely, Rob Lowe, Martin Short, Jerry Seinfeld, and Kim Kardashian…
All of those who appeared in the temporary spot were considered for the permanent role.
After hosting the season opener solo on September 3rd, Kelly will officially announce her new co-host on September 4th, taking the stage with her new on screen partner.
