The latest issue of Life & Style dives into this new diet that claims to be behind Kelly Osbourne’s 70-pound weight loss. The fad food promise she’s been dishing on? Mushrooms. Just mushrooms.
The M-Plan, a popular diet craze in the U.K. apparently, has found a follower in Kelly, a source told the magazine.
The regimen requires you to replace lunch or dinner with a mushroom-based recipe every day for two consecutive weeks. In that period of time, you typically lose four to ten pounds, its practitioners claim, citing the 25-per-cup calorie count of mushrooms as an excellent substitute for meat.
According to registered dietitian Dr. Wendy Bazilian, the mushrooms are more “satisfying” because “they taste meaty, so it doesn’t feel like you’re just eating a pile of lettuce leaves.”
The nature of this diet does sound like something in Kelly’s wheelhouse. The “Fashion Police” personality has admitted to other quirky weight loss diets since 2009 including hula-hoop workout routines and the Reverse Diet (where you eat dinner for breakfast and breakfast for dinner).
