Kelly Clarkson’s original plan was to have a big, grand wedding. That’s not going to happen anymore.
The 31-year-old singer told People magazine that because of her and her fiancé Brandon Blackstock’s busy schedules, a big ceremony just isn't possible. It’s just a harsh reality for the pair, but they’re not letting it come between their love for each other.
“We are so busy that we finally just came to terms the other night and were like, ‘So, we change our minds and we want to elope,’” Kelly explained. “We just got so overwhelmed by it, all the decisions.”
“We sent out a save-the-date to everyone and then it got crazy and all the details were leaking,” Kelly added.
Also consuming her time is a Christmas record set to be released this holiday season and a State Farm safe driving collaboration, along with Brandon’s two children’s soccer and football games. Take all that and throw in the stress of planning a large wedding and it takes a toll on what should be a joyous affair.
Breaking the news to friends and family, she and Brandon “sent out an engagement photo to everyone and said, ‘Thank you so much for understanding, but it’s just going to be me and Brandon and his two kids and the minister,” Kelly said.
