One perk of being in the music business: Having a bunch of friends that can perform at your wedding.
Kelly Clarkson is a fine example of this. Just weeks after finding out that the pop songstress is engaged to her longtime love, Brandon Blackston; we are now learning that Blake Shelton has agreed to play on their special day.
It was during an on-air interview with country music station K-Frog that the blushing bride-to-be broke the news.
“Blake actually is going to play at our reception, so we're pretty excited,” she said.
Of course, it was Hollyscoop that accurately predicted this development. Before the holidays, we spoke with Mr. Shelton when he publicly made the offer in the first place.
“I am going on the record saying, I will do the music at the wedding or whatever you want to do, I’ll be that guy,” he said. “I will play for four hours if I have to, cause you need to get your head out of you’re a** and ask that girl to marry you.”
It was also during this conversation, when we also relayed that if it was Blake who actually convinced Brandon, his manager, to buckle down and propose already.
“I told Brandon, man you need to grow up and figure out that you need to marry this girl,” Shelton had said.
In addition to a performance from Blake, Kelly admitted to feeling a little overwhelmed with all the details.
“We are trying to make it small, but it is hard,” she said. “Once you've got one person, you have to invite five others, and then five others... I literally had a breakdown two weeks ago about the wedding list.”
As we previously noted, the nuptials will link Kelly through marriage to country music icon Reba McEntire—So, yeah… we’d be nervous too.
“I'm actually terrified at everyone watching me walk down an aisle,” she said, adding, “that is like the worst thing ever.”
